"Two habitable planets: Sedri itself is 99% covered in water, but its neighbor—Sedri Minor—is largely arable."
―Estala Maru[6]

Sedri was a waterworld located in the Sedri system of the Tharin sector, falling specifically into the Periphery area of space. Part of the Galactic Frontier of the Outer Rim Territories and sitting on the border of Hutt Space, Sedri was part of a binary star system and existed alongside a neighbor planet, the agricultural world Sedri Minor. It was a habitable world with a surface covered ninety-nine percent with water. By 228 BBY, during the High Republic Era, Sedri and Sedri Minor were part of the Nihil-controlled Occlusion Zone.

Description

Located in the Periphery's small Sedri system[6] as part of the Tharin sector[5] and sitting on the border of Hutt Space,[1] Sedri was a waterworld[6] found within the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Slice[3] at Standard Galactic Grid square S-8.[1] It was a habitable planet and one of only two examples of such a world in[6] the binary[7] Sedri system, with the other habitable world being Sedri's neighbor, the agricultural world Sedri Minor. Ninety-nine percent of Sedri's surface was covered in water, and it had at least one moon.[6]

History

During the High Republic Era,[6] Sedri fell into the Galactic Frontier,[2] a region of the Outer Rim Territories[8] designated by the Galactic Republic as being far from the galactic center, which resulted in the deployment of explorers into the Frontier.[9] Following an attack by Nihil pirates on a Hutt starship in the Kazlin system[6] in 232 BBY,[10] Jedi Knight Ceret found that the ship was traveling from the Sedri system. Looking over where the vessel could have gotten its shipment of Vratixian barley, Jedi Master Estala Maru, on the Republic space station Starlight Beacon, told the station's marshal, fellow Master Avar Kriss, about Sedri and its neighbor while displaying holograms of the worlds. Jedi were thus dispatched to Sedri Minor to continue the investigation.[6]

By 228 BBY,[11] Sedri, along with Sedri Minor, had fallen into the borders of the Occlusion Zone,[4] a territory located behind the Stormwall hyperspace barrier and governed by the Nihil.[12] That year,[13] the Nihil surrendered to the Galactic Republic after the fall of the Stormwall, dissolving the Occlusion Zone as an entity and freeing all planets held within its grasp. The newly liberated planets were welcomed to join the Republic, however some opted to retain their independence, while others remained under the control of individual Nihil warlords.[12]

Behind the scenes

Sedri first appeared via hologram in the second issue of the 2021 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic, released as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[6] Phase I.[14] The issue was written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Ario Anindito, and published by Marvel Comics on February 3, 2021.[15] The planet originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, appearing in the adventure book Battle for the Golden Sun, which was released in 1988 for use in Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game published by West End Games.[16]
