"Pre-Carvian. Third millennium."
"It's a good guess."
"The stone is Carvian, but it's older, isn't it?"
"We think it's Lost Empire."

Strang was an alien antiques dealer who attended a Senate Investiture week party hosted by the antiquities collector Davo Sculdun on the planet Coruscant in 3 BBY. Strang tried to guess the age of fellow dealer Luthen Rael's ring at the event before joining a tour of Sculdun's gallery of antiquities. During the tour, Sculdun showed Strang and the others a number of artifacts, including the Lost Tairn and the Tinian Codex, and a tense debate occured between Senator Mon Mothma and Director Orson Krennic.

"My word, Luthen. And you wear it out?"
"I thought one of you thieves might make me an offer."
"It takes one to know one, Luthen."

Strang was an alien[1] antiques dealer[2] who attended an Investiture Party hosted by the antiquities collector Davo Sculdun in Sculdun Tower on[1] the planet[3] Coruscant during Senate Investiture week[1] in 3 BBY.[4] At the party, Strang examined a ring worn by fellow antiques dealer Luthen Rael—secretly a member of the rebel Axis network—and guessed that it was pre-Carvian from the third millennium, but Rael dismissed this as a good guess.[1]

Strang then acknowledged that the stone was Carvian, but reasserted that the ring was older. Rael then revealed that it was thought to date to the Lost Empire, shocking[1] the antiques dealer[2] Cleave, who was surprised Rael wore out such an ancient piece. Rael then told the other dealers that he had brought it in the hope that one of them might make an offer to purchase it, earning a laugh when he called them all thieves.[1]

A tense tour

"It's a book. You read by touch, your hand. It's from a planet where blindness was considered a gift."
"Oh, well, I'm sure we can all think of some people who would be right at home."

Strang took part in a tour of Davo Sculdun's antiques gallery.

Rael, Strang, and Cleave were among those chosen for a tour of Sculdun's gallery of antiquities along with Senator Mon Mothma and[1] her husband,[3] Perrin Fertha, who motioned Strang and Cleave and the gallery's art consultant, Mishko, over as the tour was about to begin. Cleave responded that the trio would meet the others there. The Imperial Security Bureau personnel Orson Krennic, Avril Heert, Lagret, and Moy also joined the tour, as did[1] Sculdun's wife,[5] Runai Sculdun.[1]

Davo started the tour with introductions and then showed the group the Lost Tairn artifact as Rael's assistant, Kleya Marki, entered the gallery separately with bureau member Lonni Jung to remove a listening device from the Tinian Codex artifact. Once Sculdun had finished describing the tairn, the group moved on to other objects in the gallery including a Carmeenian helmet, which prompted an intense debate between Mothma and Krennic on the nature of the Battle of Carmeen. Strang and Cleave stood together listening to the debate, each holding a drink glass.[1]

Strang laughed at Orson Krennic's joke.

Davo eventually moved the group on to an object that had been found being used as ballast in a swamp freighter, eliciting a laugh from them all. They then reached Jung and Marki, who had just removed the device, at the codex, and Jung explained that the artifact was from a world where blindness was considered a gift. When Krennic quipped that they all knew people who would be right at home on such a world, Strang and others laughed.[1]

Personality and traits

Strang had thick hands with stubby fingers,[2] white skin, white hair, and gray eyes.[1]

Equipment

At Sculdun's party, Strang wore black, white, and gray robes with a golden bracelet on their right wrist and a silver brooch with an amber-colored brooch at their throat.[1]

Behind the scenes

Concept art of Strang shows the character in a high-collared black shirt with a white patterened shawl over it.

Ivan Manzella created concept art of Strang.

Strang appeared in "What a Festive Evening," the sixth episode of the Disney+ live-action series Andor's second season,[1] which premiered on April 29, 2025.[6] Ivan Manzella created concept art of Strang.[7] The character's suit was produced by the CFX team and worn by Aidan Cook, while Claire Roi Harvey provided Strang's voice. The role was Harvey's first voice credit on a Star Wars project, and she also performed the lip sync and on-set dialogue, with Mike Quinn and Jessie Hinton controlling the character's eyes with support from the CFX Coordinator Derek Arnold. Some of Strang's scenes were filmed inside a Faraday cage, which caused issues with transmitters.[8]

I was very fortunate to perform across a number of epic teams and characters on this season, but this one is a bit special, because not only did I perform the lip sync and live on set dialogue- I got my first Star Wars voice credit. Go listen to my very best space antiques enthusiast voice in the episode 'what a festive evening’. This character was created by the brilliant CFX team with insanely good animatronic design by @gustavhoegan. Suit performance by #aidancook , performing the eyes @mikequinnstudios & my sis the wonderful #jessiehinton all supported by CFX Coordinator @itsaderek 💪🏼 💪🏼 That whole scene is populated by so many EPIC suit performers and hidden puppeteers and CFX crew all working at the top of their game- it really takes a (space) village #starwarscreatures #andor #andorseason2 #animatronics #puppetry #practicaleffects #starwarsanimatronics Fun fact: when you’re shooting in a faraday cage, your transmitters might decide to do their own thing 🤪" (backup link) (screenshot)
