D'Aelgoth sector

The D'Aelgoth sector was located in the Mid Rim Territories and the Western Reaches and was home to over a dozen star systems. Forger Gwellis Bagnoro stayed on the resident astronomical object Ogem with a droid that contained valuable information, which left with smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca between 9 BBY and 5 BBY. The grand-engineer Lony Coleema dealt information in the D'Aelgoth sector's asteroid outpost Z-LOQ, where she was then captured by the bounty hunter IG-88B.

Around 1 ABY, the Galactic Empire sent its wreckage-prison Accresker Jail colliding with the Rebel Alliance-sympathising planet Tiferep Major in the sector. In 5 ABY, Grand Admiral Rae Sloane of the Empire ordered for Imperial assets to travel to the D'Aelgoth sector.

Description

The D'Aelgoth sector was located in an intersecting portion of the Mid Rim Territories^[1] and the Western Reaches.^[2] Among its star systems were the Chroman, Feenix, and Tallaso systems at the coordinates K-17 of the Standard Galactic Grid, and the Argul, Mima, New Cylimba, Ogem, Selenius, Sinded, Tarsa, Tiferep Major, Vandron, and Z-LOQ systems at the coordinates L-17.^[1] The Tiferep Major, Chroman,^[5] and Ogem systems were linked together by a hyperspace route that eventually connected to the Corellian Trade Spine.^[6]

The sector included^[1] the astronomical object Feenix^[7] as well as the asteroid outpost Z-LOQ^[8] and the terrestrial planets^[9][3] Ogem^[9] and Tiferep Major,^[3] which were all located respectively in their eponymous star systems.^[1]

History

In 5 ABY,^[10] Grand Admiral Rae Sloane of the Galactic Empire ordered for Imperial assets to be directed to the D'Aelgoth sector. The Yomo Council, a faction that had formerly been part of the Empire, refused to follow Sloane's order, and Colonel Soran Keize of the Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing subsequently listed it among a number of "treasonous actions" by the Yomo Council before his forces proceeded to destroy the council's forces at the planet Fedovoi End.^[4]

Locations

In the late days of the Galactic Republic, Feenix was represented by Senator Tanner Cadaman in the Republic's Galactic Senate. Shortly after the Republic transitioned into the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY,^[7] the new faction arrested Cadaman and sixty-two other senators for their involvement in the Petition of 2,000 against the powers of the ascended Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine.^[11] The Empire ran labor facilities^[12] in the Chroman system^[1] where the Imperial Captain Fatulaine secretly began to free prisoners from the facility after working there for three days.^[12]

During the time of the Empire, the forger Gwellis Bagnoro stayed on Ogem, keeping an NP-unit droid that held the coordinates of Pirate Queen Rane Mahal's secret treasure, secretly Mahal herself looking to escape the^[13] planet^[14] Sakreen. The pirate Gwarm, as well as the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca, separately arrived to take the droid^[13] some time between 9 BBY and 5 BBY.^[14] Solo and Chewbacca ultimately got away with the droid after Gwarm, who had incapacitated Bagnoro, was attacked by the forger's pet, Izby.^[13] During the time of the New Republic, the junk dealer Unkar Plutt sold salvage from the planet Jakku to spacers on Ogem.^[9] The scavenger Miggs McKane was said to have retired to Ogem after selling off a valuable datacore he found in an Imperial Star Destroyer on Jakku.^[15]

Between 2 BBY and 4 ABY,^[16] the Rebel Alliance operative Alexsandr Kallus and the protocol droid Dee-Four met with the grand-engineer Lony Coleema on Z-LOQ and received information on some of the Empire's new technological capabilities. Meanwhile, several bounty hunters searched for the grand-engineer, with the droid IG-88B ultimately capturing her and taking her away before two Imperial Star Destroyers arrived in search for her.^[8]

Around 1 ABY,^[17] during the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Alliance, the population of Tiferep Major was considered by the Empire to be sixty-seven percent sympathetic to the Alliance. The Empire subsequently sent its wreckage-prison Accresker Jail on a collision course to the world.^[3] Rebel forces were evacuated from Tiferep Major before the prison hit the planet, devastating it.^[18]

Behind the scenes

The D'Aelgoth sector was first mentioned in the 2021 novel Victory's Price: An Alphabet Squadron Novel, the final installment of the Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy, which was written by Alexander Freed.^[4] Tiferep Major's placement in the D'Aelgoth sector was established through the appendix "Star Systems of the Galaxy," which was released alongside the Star Wars Galaxy Map^[1]—both works having been written by Jason Fry and published on StarWars.com on June 24, 2025.^[19] This placement retconned the D'Aelgoth sector's first appearance to the twenty-third issue of the 2016 comic series Star Wars: Doctor Aphra. The issue was written by Simon Spurrier, illustrated by Kev Walker, and published by Marvel Comics^[3] on August 22, 2018.^[20]

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the sector was first mentioned in the 1997 novel The Hutt Gambit, the second volume of Star Wars: The Han Solo Trilogy, written by A. C. Crispin.^[21] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 Legends reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, later placed the Selenius system in the D'Aelgoth sector,^[22] thereby establishing the introduction of the celestial body Selenius VII in "Almost Had 'Im," a short companion narrative authored by Rick D. Stuart and included in the 1994 West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game sourcebook Galaxy Guide 10: Bounty Hunters, as the de facto first appearance of the D'Aelgoth sector.^[23] In 2011, the sector was given its first visual depiction on a map designed by Modi and published in the Online Companion feature "Essential Atlas Extra: Sectors of the Mid Rim."^[24]
