OnACanonArticle

This article is about the canon star system.
You may be looking for the species in the Star Wars Legends continuity.

The Chroman system was located in the D'Aelgoth sector of the Mid Rim Territories[1] and the Western Reaches.[2] Situated in grid square K-17 of the Standard Galactic Grid, it was connected by a hyperspace route to[3] the planets[6][7] Tiferep Major[3] and Ogem.[8] It was the location of[5] the Chroman Labor Pits, labor facilities that were owned by the Galactic Empire. There, the Imperial Captain Fatulaine began to secretly free prisoners after working there for just three days.[4]

Behind the scenes

The Chroman system was first labeled on a galactic map[9] designed by Christopher Ibbitt[10] for the reference book Star Wars: Timelines and released as a promotional poster at Celebration Anaheim[11] on May 27, 2022[12] before the book's release during Celebration Europe[13] of April 7 through 10, 2023.[14] It was identified in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published on StarWars.com alongside the Star Wars Galaxy Map article[3] on June 24, 2025—both being written by Jason Fry.[15]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for the Chroman Labor Pits in relation to Chroman system.
