A kyber crystal resided at the heart of every lightsaber
Crystals were solid substances with various types and uses throughout the galaxy.[1][2] Some crystals such as the nectrose crystal was used in dishes as a flavor-enhancer,[3] while other crystals such as the kyber crystal was used by the Jedi[4] and the Sith for their lightsaber.[5]
Nova crystals were a type of crystal.[6] Some planets, such as Christophsis[7] and NaJedha were crystalline in nature.[8]
The Galactic Empire conducted strip mining on Lothal for ore and crystals.[9]
The surface of the planet Galzez was covered in orange crystals.[10] The caverns of the planet Quarzite were filled with purple crystals.[11] Tynzo crystals were only found on the world of Isobe.[12]
Behind the scenes
Crystals, albeit unidentified, first appeared in "The Gathering," the sixth episode of the fifth season of the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars,[13] which aired on November 3, 2012.[14] The mineral was then identified as a "crystal" in "A Test of Strength," the seventh episode of the same season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.[15]
