The Skine sector was an Outer Rim sector that contained the Lucrenn, Skine, Skynara, and Wodenstam systems. The sector's subsector, the Moraysian sector, was home to the Moraysi system. In 230 BBY, after the Nihil marauder organization formed the Occlusion Zone behind the Stormwall hyperspace barrier, the Skine sector was situated on the border of Galactic Republic territory. The Moraysi system was home to the sentient humanoid Moraysians.

Description

The Skine sector was a space sector located in the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Trailing Sectors regions of the galaxy.[2] The sector bordered the Merel, Lol, and Samix sectors.[4] It contained the Lucrenn, Skine, Skynara, and Wodenstam systems, which were situated in grid squares P-19 and Q-19 of the Standard Galactic Grid. The sector's subsector, the Moraysian sector, was home to the Moraysi system, which was located in grid square P-18 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] The Skynara system was located on a hyperspace route that branched out toward Spice Terminus and the Suarbi and Vohai systems.[5]

History

In 230 BBY, the Nihil marauder organization formed the Occlusion Zone—an area of space in the Outer Rim's Frontier that was situated behind the Stormwall barrier preventing hyperspace travel.[6] Afterward, the Skine sector was one of the sectors forming the border of the territory controlled by the Galactic Republic, with several of its neighboring sectors cut off behind the Stormwall[4] until the barrier fell[7] in 228 BBY.[8]

The Moraysi system[3] within the Skine sector's Moraysian sector subsector[1] was home to the sentient humanoid Moraysians,[3] a technologically-adept species that was skilled at inventing and building starships. By the New Republic Era, the Moraysians had been subjugated by criminal organizations such as the Pyke Syndicate for a few generations and forced to arm and equip various types of criminals.[10]

Several years before around 6 ABY,[11] the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca, as well as their colleague Lando Calrissian, worked with the criminal Garlev on the outskirts of the Moraysian sector to rob Moraysian smugglers of their weapons.[9] In 34 ABY,[12] several screens aboard Chandrila Star Line's Star Cruiser Halcyon displayed a partial map of the galaxy that indicated the Skynara system's position.[13]

The Skine sector in the Star Wars Legends continuity

In the current Star Wars canon, the Skine sector first appeared via a map in the first issue of the 2023 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures. The issue was written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Harvey Tolibao and Nick Brokenshire, and published by Dark Horse Comics[4] as part of Phase III of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project on December 6, 2023.[14]

The Skine sector originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, a 1993 sourcebook written by Simon Smith and Eric S. Trautmann for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[15] The sector made its first full appearance via an on-screen depiction of[16] its[17] Skynara system in The Clone Wars: Act on Instinct, a webcomic authored by Pablo Hidalgo and released on StarWars.com[16] over the span of the 2009[18]2010[19] second season of the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.[18]
