- "I'm Attendant Grymish from ISB tech. We have reason to believe there are listening devices in this office."
- ―Grymish introduces himself to Syril Karn
Grymish was an Attendant in the Galactic Empire's Imperial Security Bureau as an aide to ISB Supervisor Dedra Meero. As part of Meero's undercover operations with Imperial Bureau of Standards Division Chief Syril Karn, Grymish claimed to be part of the ISB tech department and, along with several other attendants, checked Karn's office in Ghorman's Bureau of Standards Ghorman field office in Palmo for listening devices planted by the Ghorman Front.
Biography
Ghorman espionage
Grymish worked in ISB tech.
During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Grymish served in the Empire's Imperial Security Bureau (ISB). As an attandent, they were part of ISB tech.[1] In 3 BBY,[2] Grymish operated on the planet Ghorman,[1] which the Empire was secretly trying to break down the Ghorman people politically in order to increase its control there[3] and start strip mining the world.[4] As part of these efforts, led by ISB Supervisor Dedra Meero, the ISB wanted to turn the Ghorman Front, a local rebel cell,[1] into a reason to increase the Empire's presence.[3] Syril Karn, Meero's romantic partner,[1] was posted as Division Chief of the Imperial Bureau of Standards' field office at an Imperial office complex at the plaza of Ghorman's capital of Palmo. The promotion was under the ISB's influence to try and have Karn infiltrate the rebel cell,[5] the plant believing that it was only to route out outside agitators.[6]
The Ghorman Front had indeed bugged the office with listening devices and had a member of the cell, Leeza, working there. The rebel group indeed listened in on Karn and took an interest in his performative rhetoric on the Empire's handling over Ghorman, inviting him to a public town hall meeting. As part of the ruse for Karn, an ISB tech team led by Grymish was sent to the field office for a tech sweep on suspicions of listening devices. Walking into the office, the attendant told all of the employees to step away from their work stations and leave the room. Leeza secretly alarmed the listening Ghorman Front, who cut their connection to the field office. Karn stepped out of his personal office and asked what was going on, telling his workers to stay where they were.[1]

Grymish introduced himself and explained the situation. Karn defiantly told him they would have to wait for the office's audit to finish, but the attendant corrected that it was now a tech sweep, with all staff being taken into temporary custody. Karn questioned their authority and called their orders insane, leading Grymish to have him forcefully taken out. The attendant ordered the rest of the staff out, rhetorically asking if anyone else wanted to argue. In Grymish's tech sweep, which overturned the office, the listening device in Karn's office was discovered, and all staff had a thorough interview over it. Karn's clash with Grymish's team prompted the Ghorman Front to further appeal for his assistance, unknowing that he was an ISB plant.[1]
Imperial deployment
In the following year, tensions between the Empire and the Ghormans increased, with multiple incidents taking place that media called "inexplicable Ghorman resistance to Imperial norms." Grymish and other assets of Meero's operated out of the Imperial office complex at Palmo Plaza. In the meantime, Karn's relationship with the Ghorman Front deteriorated, and he found himself left in the dark by the ISB. After a firebombing at an Imperial Naval Terminal at Palmo, Emperor Sheev Palpatine and Director Orson Krennic passed down the affirmative to force the need for a Declaration of Martial Domain on Ghorman via Meero's superior, Major Lio Partagaz.[6]

Captain Kaido, a crisis specialist for the Empire, arrived at Meero's office in the office complex, waiting with Grymish while the supervisor was briefed on the Emperor and Krennic's requests. Karn arrived to ask Meero about the firebombing, only for Grymish to stop him in front of the office and tell him she was busy. Persistently asking where the supervisor was, Karn ended up finding her himself. Kaido brought units into Palmo with him, cadets fresh from training. Grymish joined Meero watching one unit disembark at Palmo Plaza, the attendant filling her in that multiple units were arriving. Meero called them children and the pair retired to the office complex. That night, Grymish consulted a terminal in Meero's office using a headset before going to a datapad.[6]
Operation unmasked
Grymish led Syril Karn to a safe room during the protesting at Palmo Plaza.
That night, reports came in of Imperial mining equipment arriving all over Ghorman, along with Kaido's troops rearranging the barricades in the plaza the next morning to open up the public space and fortify the Imperial office complex. As intended, a large-scale protest from Ghorman citizens amassed in the plaza. Meero and Grymish briefly went to watch the growing crowd of Ghormans from the balcony at her office, the supervisor leading the attendant inside afterwards. With Imperial employees having been summoned to the office complex for their safety, Karn soon arrived there, Grymish greeting him at the waiting area. Karn wanted to go upstairs and see Meero, but the attendant instead led him into a safe room to ensure he was tucked away from the chaos.[7]
While the protest broke into an anthem, Karn left the safe room and went to over to Meero's office. Grymish caught onto this and tried to stop Karn as he confronted Meero, but the supervisor promptly dismissed the attendant, having the officer close the door. Karn forced Meero to reveal the Empire's true intentions for Ghorman, choosing to leave her behind and flee the building when he learned the truth. After the confrontation, Grymish went to the terminal in Meero's office, where Partagaz made contact. As Meero came back in to order that Karn not leave the building, the attendant directed her to the line with Partagaz.[7]
Grymish watched as the order was given to start the Ghorman Massacre.
After taking through Meero's order, Grymish returned to Meero's office with Kaido and a communications officer, where the supervisor finished her conversation with Partagaz. Kaido asked for orders, and Meero told him to proceed. Grymish then watched at the captain arranged for an Imperial sniper to shoot down one of the cadets as a false flag attack, prompting Imperial troops to start firing on Ghormans indiscriminately. Ghorman rebels fought back, and when Karn was spotted in the plaza, Grymish reported such to Meero. The supervisor looked out from the balcony briefly, Grymish telling her it was not safe, but she went back inside shortly after again. The two continued to talk inside the office until they were interrupted by a fragmentation grenade going off, both watching out the window afterwards.[7] The event would go on to be known as the Ghorman Massacre.[8]
