The sniper takes aim during the Ghorman incident

Serving as an Imperial sharpshooter for the Galactic Empire, the individual was deployed to the planet Ghorman[1] in 2 BBY[2] as part of Captain Kaido's crisis team.[1] Shortly after the crisis team's arrival on world,[2] the sniper played a vital role in the Empire's plan to orchestrate a justification to fully seize the planet, with control over the world ensuring the Empire could begin mining its kalkite. The sniper's orders were to target a member of Sergeant Bloy's riot squad, composed of young Imperial security troopers, while hidden, thereby making it seem as though the Ghormans had fired first. Such would make the Imperials on the ground to think they had been provoked[1] and make the Ghormans look like the aggressors.[3]

The sniper was positioned on the roof of a building around the edge of Palmo Plaza, where the sharpshooter would have a vantage point over a crowd of Ghorman protestors. During the protest, he received orders from Kaido to open fire and begin the conflict. He first targeted a member of a riot squad within the crowd and killed that soldier with a direct shot, which prompted Bloy, believing the shot had come from the Ghormans, to order his squad to open fire on the crowd. Members of a local rebel group called the Ghorman Front responded by firing back at the Imperial troops. As the shootout continued, the sniper proceeded to shoot several fleeing Ghormans from his rooftop position.[1]

Personality and traits

The sniper had light colored skin and blue eyes. Despite being part of the Empire, he was willing to shoot an Imperial army trooper in order to start the Ghorman Massacre.[1]

Skills and abilities

The individual displayed skill as an Imperial sharpshooter, staying calm under the pressure of the Ghorman Massacre and following orders that entailed the death of a fellow Imperial.[1]

Equipment

During the Ghorman Massacre, he wore an all black clothing outfit with a hood and used a DLT-20A blaster rifle to fire into the crowd.[1]

Behind the scenes

The sniper was portrayed by Ali Watt and appeared in the eighth episode of second season of the live-action series Star Wars: Andor[1] on May 6, 2025.[4]
