The Galtea system was a star system positioned in the grid square M-21 of the Standard Galactic Grid, in the Kathol sector of[4] the Western Reaches[3] and the Outer Rim Territories,[4] in a section of the Rim designated as the Galactic Frontier by the Galactic Republic during the High Republic Era.[2] It contained the inhabited terrestrial object Galtea.[1] In 230 BBY, the Nihil pirates raised a hyperspace travel-preventing barrier known as the Stormwall around area known as the Occlusion Zone,[5] which contained the Galtea system.[1]

In 229 BBY,[6] Jedi Master Elzar Mann mentioned the beings trapped behind the Stormwall to the Republic Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh to motivate her to keep fighting against the Nihil, naming those living on Galtea as an example.[1] Around 228 BBY,[7] the Nihil surrendered to the Republic following the Stormwall's fall, dissolving the Occlusion Zone territory. Its worlds[8]—including Galtea[1]—were welcomed back into the Republic if they wished, though some remained independent or under the control of individual Nihil warlords.[8]

Behind the scenes

The Galtea system was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon the appendix Star Systems of the Galaxy, published on the StarWars.com website[4] as part of Star Wars Galaxy Map[9] on June 24, 2025. Both works were authored by Jason Fry.[10] The Galtea system originates in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in "Traitor in our Midst," a roleplaying adventure included in the[11] 1995[12] supplement The DarkStryder Campaign that was published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[11]
