"The nearest New Republic consular office is Firrerre. Neither travelers' assistance nor the ability to request such assistance is available to trailing on Firrerre. Should assistance on Jakku be required, travelers are directed to report to the consular office on Fierrerre in person."
―Part of the office's warning concerning Jakku[2]

Firrerre was a world in the Outer Rim Territories' Sugai sector, a subsector of the Zuma sector. It was the site of a consular office for New Republic Space Ministry that issued the METOSP titled 558 ModSuFi, warning spacers to avoid the planet Jakku.

Description

Firrerre was a terrestrial[2] world[3] located in the Firrerre system of the Sugai sector, a sub-sector of the Zuma sector in the Outer Rim Territories. Falling within grid square H-16 of the Standard Galactic Grid,[1] it was considered local to the moon Endor,[3] which was located in the same grid square in the Moddell sector, another subsector of the Zuma sector.[4]

History

The emblem of the New Republic, consisting of a blue Rebel Alliance starbird with yellow points radiating from it.

Firrerre housed a New Republic consular office.

Until the Galactic Empire created the Sanctuary Pipeline hyperspace route to Endor during the Imperial Era, the inhabitants of Firrerre and other local worlds like Bakura and Trenwyth largely ignored the moon due to its proximity to the Unknown Regions.[3] The New Republic Space Ministry had a consular office on Firrerre that was considered to be the closest New Republic authority for spacers passing in and around the planet Jakku[2] which was located in grid square I-13 in the Inner Rim Territories.[5] The office issued a red level METOSP titled 558 ModSuFi warning concerning the Jakku via its Moddell Node and Sugai Subnode.[2]

The warning advised spacers to avoid approaching or landing on Jakku due to the hazardous environment on and around the world, as well as the minimal services, trade, and law enforcement provided by the residents. Neither traveler's assistance nor the ability to request such assistance was available to trailing on Firrerre, and if assistance was required by travelers on Jakku they were advised to report to the Firrerre office in person.[2] By 34 ABY,[6] the scavenger Rey discovered a copy of the office's warning on the Pilgrim's Road on Jakku and, believing it to be good advice, included it in a survival guide she compiled while living on Jakku.[2] In 34 ABY,[7] Firrerre's position was marked on several screens aboard Chandrila Star Line's Star Cruiser Halcyon that displayed a partial map of the galaxy.[8]

Behind the scenes

An image of Firrerre shows its surface covered with a mixture of landmasses and oceans. A vertical section of the world is removed from the sphere to show a cross section of its internal layers. Part of one of the world's landmasses is highlighted and a close-up view of the surface there is provided beneath the image of the planet, showing dots representing the Fierrerre captial and a spaceport.

Firrerre originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity.

In the current Star Wars canon, Firrerre was first mentioned in the "Guide to the Galaxy" section of the thirty-eighth issue of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine series,[3] which was written by Mark Newbold[9] and published around September 23, 2015.[10] It then first appeared on several maps viewable in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive two-day roleplaying experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida[8] that opened to the public on March 1, 2022[11] and was launched for the final time on September 28, 2023.[12]

The world originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in The Crystal Star, a 1994 novel written by Vonda N. McIntyre.[13] It was then depicted for the first time in The Essential Guide to Planets and Moons, a 1998 reference book written by Daniel Wallace and illustrated by Brandon McKinney and Scott Kolins.[14]
