- "Planet/Star Sytems: JAKKU/Jakku
Warning Level: Red/Proceed With Extreme Caution
Message to spacers approaching Jakku: Captains are advised not to approach Jakku or attempt to land there." - ―The opening of METOSP 558 ModSuFi
A METOSP was type of warning message that could be issued by the New Republic Space Ministry. The New Republic Space Ministry Firrerre Office issued a red level METOSP titled 558 ModSuFi via its Moddell Node and Sugai Subnode that advised spacers to avoid approaching or landing on the planet Jakku due to the hazardous environment on and around the world, as well as the minimal services, trade, and law enforcement provided by the residents. The scavenger Rey discovered a phyiscal copy of the METOSP on the Pilgrim's Road on Jakku and added to a survival guide that she created.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, a METOSP was included as part of the 2015 replica journal Rey's Survival Guide which was written by Jason Fry.[1] METOSPs originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they were first mentioned in Bill Smith's The Star Wars Planets Collection, a 1994 supplement for West End Games's Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[2]
