Siline was a planet located in the galaxy that was the homeworld of the Silinese species. The planet was mainly covered with formations out of stone, crystals and minerals and the skeletons of the Silinese species were also out of crystal. For most of Siline's history the Silinese had been a warrior society with various nations, but around the High Republic Era they became unified and more peaceful and civilized.[1]

Every seven to ten planetary year thermal vents in the continental crust of Siline busted and spewed red metallic vapor into the planet's atmosphere. This occasion marked the event of the Silinese's Crowning Convocations, which were made up of three championships. In earlier times these competitions had been nationalized and had been deadly, but since coming into contact with the Republic, they had become international and non-lethal—although not undangerous. Around a decade before[1] 134 BBY,[2] Siline began petitioning to join the Galactic Republic, after having been affiliated with it for almost two hundred years. In the decades before 134 BBY, a consortium of the human Graf family had also started mining iflisalt—a volcanic rock with properties invaluable for various hyperdrive fuels—at a recently ecologically devastated area of the planet.[1]

The talks with the Republic came into difficulties in 134 BBY after a diplomatic incident between a Silinese War Council member and the Jedi Order's delegate, Master Brand, leading to a team of Jedi being sent to Siline to clear up the misunderstanding. The team—consisting of the Masters Sol and Elishe and their Padawans Jecki Lon and Yord Fandar—arrived at the beginning of the most recent Crowning Convocation and as a token of respect the two Padawans entered into the competition. The Convocation was sabotaged when a a group of mercenaries infiltrated the final section and led out a group of lyleks as a distraction to be able to kill the ericadi and sell off their valuable scales. The conspiracy could eventually be stopped by the Jedi, who left Siline afterwards.[1]

  2. The events of The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown take place in 134 BBY per the following reasoning. The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown establishes that Jecki Lon is the Padawan of Sol and Yord Fandar has yet to undertake his Jedi Trials. The novel also states that Lon has been Sol's Padawan for at least two years, as well as that Sol had not taken a Padawan for years after his former Padawan, Verosha Aniseya, left the Jedi Order. From this, at least four years have passed since Aniseya left the Order. "Lost / Found"—the events of which take place in 132 BBY per the reasoning here—establishes Aniseya left the Order six years before its events, equating to 138 BBY. The episode further states Fandar passed his Jedi Trials two years before its events, meaning he must have passed his Trials in 134 BBY.
