"I made Knight. Two years ago."
―Yord Fandar[6]

134 BBY, or 134[1] Before the Battle of Yavin, was a year in the 'ABY-BBY' dating system[7] that was a part of the High Republic Era.[8] During that year,[1] Jedi Padawan Yord Fandar passed his Jedi Trials, ascending to the rank of Jedi Knight. Two years later, Fandar mentioned the event to his friend, former Padawan Osha Aniseya, after reuniting with her.[6]

In 134 ABY,[2] the Force-sensitive assassin Mae Aniseya met[9] the secret[10] Sith Lord known only as "the Stranger"[11] and "Qimir" who posed as the Stranger's subordinate,[9] yet in reality was the Stranger's alter ego.[10] Aniseya then began an intense training regimen under the Stranger that lasted two years, focusing her anger into a weapon.[9] Around 134 ABY,[12] Jedi Master Indara was assigned to Point Ueda on the planet Ueda.[9]

Behind the scenes

134 BBY was first indirectly mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in "Lost / Found,"[6] the first episode of the live-action Disney+ series The Acolyte, which aired on June 4, 2024.[13] That approximate in-universe year was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was mentioned in the "Operation Blue Star" adventure of Wizards of the Coast's Living Force roleplaying campaign.[14] The adventure was written by Megan Robertson[15] and released in 2001.[16]

Notes and references

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 "Lost / Found"—which takes place in 132 BBY per reasoning here—establishes Yord Fandar passed his Jedi Trials and became a Jedi Knight two years earlier. Therefore, those events must have occurred in 134 BBY.
  2. 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide establishes Mae-ho Aniseya began training under the Stranger two years before the present day events of The Acolyte, which is set in 132 BBY per the reasoning here. Therefore, Aniseya and the Stranger must have met in 134 BBY.
  3. Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious dates the assassination attempt on Padmé Amidala on Coruscant and the carbon-freezing of Han Solo—events that Star Wars: Timelines places in the years 22 BBY and 3 ABY of the 'ABY-BBY' dating system, respectively—to 7955.442.1 and 7980.421.2 in the Coruscant reckoning calendar, therefore establishing a difference of approximately 7,977 years between the two dating systems.
  4. Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide places the founding of the Galactic Empire in the year 3258 LY of the Lothal Calendar. Star Wars: Timelines dates the proclamation of the New Order to 19 BBY, placing the zero point—the Battle of Yavin—of the 'ABY-BBY' dating system around 3277 LY and therefore establishing a difference of approximately 3,277 years between the two dating systems.
  5. Per Star Wars: The Rebel Files, a calendar existed during the reign of the Galactic Empire the zero point of which was the Empire's founding. Star Wars: Timelines dates the proclamation of the New Order to the year 19 BBY of the 'ABY-BBY' dating system, therefore establishing a difference of approximately nineteen years between the two dating systems.

  12. The events of Star Wars: The Acolyte take place in 132 BBY per the reasoning here. Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide places the start of Indara's posting on Ueda to two years before the series, equating to around 134 BBY.

  14. The adventure "Operation Blue Star" of the Living Force roleplaying campaign establishes Blue Star Centre to have been founded 103 years prior. The Living Force Campaign Guide dates the beginning of the campaign to one year after the events of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, which translates to around 31 BBY per The New Essential Chronology, while "Below the Belt: Philology" shifts the setting of the campaign ten years forward, that is, to around 21 BBY. "Operation Blue Star" is set before the events of "Below the Belt: Philology," therefore it must be set around 31 BBY and Blue Star Centre must have been established around 134 BBY.
