"Two asteroids! This is exactly how I crashed last time."
"OG [sic], you've come so far already. You really are brave."
―0G-LC and Kai Brightstar, departing the Parmel sector's Fobaris system[5]

The Parmel sector was a sector located in the Outer Rim Territories that bordered the Toblain and Khuiumin sectors and contained the Aris Minor, Fobaris, Gosho, Kallistas, Parmel, Revkinn, Shumari, Tassahondee Station, Turak, Turcan, and Vohai systems. During the High Republic Era, it was part of Galactic Republic space. At some point, the droid 0G-LC was sent to explore the Parmel sector planet Fobaris' area of space but was stranded there after two asteroids in the world's asteroid field damaged his ship, the Star Seeker. Years later, around 233 BBY, the Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs, and their pilot friend Nash Durango, found the Star Seeker and convinced the nervous droid to depart Fobaris on the ship with them.

In 228 BBY, the Parmel sector became part of the Occlusion Zone—an area of space sealed behind a barrier preventing hyperspace travel—following its expansion. Later that year, the Stormwall's fall dissolved the Occlusion Zone. At some point by 5 ABY, the TIE fighter pilot Yrica Quell flew through the passages of the sector's Tassahondee Station space station.

Description

The Parmel sector was a space sector located in the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Trailing Sectors regions of the galaxy[2] that bordered the Toblain and Khuiumin sectors.[3] It contained the Aris Minor, Fobaris, Gosho, Kallistas, Parmel, Revkinn, Shumari, Tassahondee Station, Turak, Turcan, and Vohai systems. The sector's star systems were situated in grid square O-18 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] The Fobaris system contained[6] the terrestrial planet Fobaris and its asteroid field,[5] while another of the sector's systems[7] contained the Tassahondee Station space station.[8]

History

The Parmel sector fell within the Nihil's (emblem pictured) Occlusion Zone following its 228 BBY expansion.

The Parmel sector fell within the Nihil's (emblem pictured) Occlusion Zone following its 228 BBY expansion.

During the High Republic Era, the Parmel sector was part of the Galactic Republic.[4] In 230 BBY, the Nihil marauder organization formed the Occlusion Zone, an area of space that was situated behind the Stormwall barrier preventing hyperspace travel.[9] Two years later,[10] the Stormwall expanded further into Republic space as retribution for an unsuccessful assault on the barrier by the Republic and Jedi Order. The expansion of the Stormwall enveloped the Parmel sector within the area of space cut off behind the Stormwall.[3]

In 228 BBY,[11] the Nihil surrendered to the Republic following the Stormwall barrier's fall, which dissolved the Occlusion Zone as a territory. The worlds of the Occlusion Zone,[12] which included those in the Parmel sector,[3] were welcomed back into the Republic if they wished. However, some opted to retain their independence, while others remained under the control of individual Nihil warlords.[12]

The Parmel sector planet[6] Fobaris,[5] which was at one point known as Moon B,[13] featured a breathable, Type I atmosphere[14] and was surrounded by an asteroid field. The planet appeared green from space, and its terrain consisted of canyons.[5]

At some point, the droid 0G-LC was sent to explore Fobaris' region of space on behalf of the Jedi Order and report back what he had learned. However, OG-LC became stranded on Fobaris after his starship—the Star Seeker—was damaged by two asteroids. Years later,[5] around 233 BBY,[15] the Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs, as well as their pilot friend Nash Durango, conducted a search for the Star Seeker. After finding OG-LC, they convinced the nervous droid to complete his original initiative, departing Fobaris aboard the Star Seeker.[5]

By 5 ABY,[16] Yrica Quell, a TIE fighter pilot in the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing, maneuvered through the honeycomb-like passages of[8] the Parmel sector's[7] Tassahondee Station in her fighter while they were riddled with clutterbombs.[8]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, prior to being retconned into other media,[1] the Parmel sector was first introduced via a map in the sixth issue of the 2023 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures. The issue was written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Harvey Tolibao, and published by Dark Horse Comics as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase III[3] on May 29, 2024.[17] The Fobaris system, and therefore Fobaris itself, was placed in the Parmel sector by "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix[1] written by Jason Fry[18] that was published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025.[18] Fobaris first appeared in "The Lost Jedi Ship," the second part of the second episode in the first season of the Disney+ animated television series Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.[5] The episode's release date of May 4, 2023,[19] thus retroactively marked the Parmel sector's first appearance.[5]

The Parmel sector originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the 1993 sourcebook Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, authored by Simon Smith and Eric S. Trautmann and published for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[20] It then made its first full appearance—via the planet Kallistas, which was illustrated by Terry Pavlet—in "Two for the Price of One," a roleplaying game adventure. The adventure was written by Rick D. Stuart and published in Galaxy Guide 10: Bounty Hunters, a West End Games Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game sourcebook[21] published in spring 1994.[22]

  10. Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 4 takes place one year and two weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. Since the events of The High Republic Adventures (2023) 6 are set immediately following the fourth issue's events—and depict the expansion of the Stormwall—the latter event must take place in the same year.
  11. Chapters 5–23 of The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi, which feature the Nihil's surrender, are set concurrent to the Battle of Eriadu, which takes place in 228 BBY per the reasoning here.

The Season Two episodes "The Great Gomgourd Quest" and "The Missing Life Day Feast" take place one year after the Season One episodes "The Harvest Feast" and "Life Day," placing those episodes in 233 BBY. Season One begins around the same year, meaning that the first half of Young Jedi Adventures Season One, which includes "The Lost Jedi Ship," takes place around 233 BBY.
