- "Following repeated acts of vandalism and graffiti on Imperial propaganda and recruitment posters on the small world of Ivera X, the major city was strafed by TIE fighters and bombers until seventy-three percent of its original buildings had been destroyed."
- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
Ivera X was a Core Worlds planet that suffered under the rule of the Galactic Empire, having its cities destroyed as a response to Imperial posters being vandalized. The light freighter Mighty Oak Apocalypse did a supply run there during the Galactic Civil War. After the Imperial rule over Ivera X ended, the surviving Iverians looted the Empire's old headquarters and used its wealth to hire the bounty hunter Xegan Miatt to bring in the officials behind the destruction of the world's cities. Three officials were brought in and executed before the New Republic stepped in.
Description
Ivera X was a small terrestrial planet in the tenth orbital position[3] of the Ivera system. It lay at the coordinates L-12 on the Standard Galactic Grid, within an intersecting portion of the Core Worlds[1] and the Interior regions.[2]
History
Imperial wrath
- "What other runs have you been on?"
"Zeitooine. And Dinwa Prime, and Arieli. More recently Ivera X." - ―Wedge Antilles and Thane Kyrell
Thane Kyrell (pictured) helped in a supply run to Ivera X
When Ivera X fell under the rule of the Galactic Empire, Imperial propaganda and recruitment posters there saw repeated vandalism. In response, Imperial officials had TIE fighters and TIE bombers strafe the major city there until seventy-three percent of its original buildings had been destroyed. Afterwards, the resident Iverians that survived were forced to erect new monuments to the Empire from the rubble before they were allowed to rebuild their homes. Thanks to further orders from Imperial officials, multiple cities on Ivera X were destroyed.[3]
Between 0 ABY and 1 ABY,[5] during the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, the light freighter Mighty Oak Apocalypse did a supply run to Ivera X to deliver aid. Thane Kyrell, the Moa's copilot and a former TIE fighter pilot, was part of the delivery. Not long after,[4] in 1 ABY,[5] the Moa did a medical supply delivery to the planet Oulanne, where Kyrell was approached by the Alliance pilot Wedge Antilles. When asked where else he had done relief runs by Antilles, Kyrell recalled going to Ivera X and a handful of other worlds where the Empire had committed war crimes like Arieli, Dinwa Prime, and Zeitooine. Having also visited some of those locations, Antilles continued the conversation and went on to recruit Kyrell into the Alliance.[4] Kyrell provided details of the Empire's war crimes to the Alliance during a debriefing upon his defection. A file on the interview was kept in the "Defections & Debriefings" section of the Rebel Alliance Archives.[3]
New Republic revolution
- "Surviving civilians on Ivera X looted the local Imperial headquarters but, rather than dividing the wealth between themselves, used it to hire a bounty hunter by the name of Xegan Miatt. She was tasked with locating senior Imperial officials who had ordered the destruction of their cities and drag them back for summary justice."
- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
Beaumont Kin (pictured) wrote about the events on Ivera X
After the Battle of Endor[3] of 4 ABY,[6] Imperial territory began falling to the Alliance, which transitioned into the New Republic and defeated the Empire[3] in 5 ABY.[6] Ivera X was soon freed from Imperial rule, and the surviving Iverians looted the Imperial headquarters there. Those civilians used the wealth obtained from the looting to hire the bounty hunter Xegan Miatt to capture the senior Imperial officials who had ordered the destruction of the planet's cities. Miatt was able to capture two majors and a lieutenant governor, whom the Iverians promptly executed.[3]
The New Republic soon stepped in at Ivera X, and Miatt gave a testimony to them about what had happened. A file on the testimony was added to the "Bounty Hunters" section of the New Republic Archives. The historian Beaumont Kin read the file, as well as the one on Kyrell's debrief, and wrote about Ivera X during and after its Imperial occupation in[3] his[7] 35 ABY[8] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire. In the book, he wrote that when an enemy eluded them, the Empire would lash out at ones that they could reach instead. He noted that there had not yet been laws for Miatt and the Iverians to be charged against during the transition between Imperial and New Republic law.[3]
