Snee: "If Plug was a hostage…"
Snur: "That changes everything."
Gerdis: "How would that change anything? We have the pilot. They have a ship that goes nowhere without us."
Snee: "They could have more food than we think."
Flek: "And you can't trust Plug with food."
Snur: "He'd flip sides for a meal."
Bayso: "Yeah, he'd sure be at the front of the line."

Plug was a human member of the Maya Pei Brigade during the Imperial Era. In 4 BBY, the brigade was ambushed, leaving him as part of a group that ended up stranded on the moon Yavin 4. After the group killed the Axis network pilot Porko, they captured Porko's comrade Cassian Andor when he arrived on Yavin 4 in a stolen Imperial TIE Avenger. While the group debated about what to do with Andor and the starfighter, the brigade member Crab shot the group's own pilot, Rika, and was then shot in turn by brigade member Rowd.

A blasterfight broke out between Plug and the others, and he joined a faction led by brigade member Gerdis, hiding with Andor as their prisoner in a wrecked ship nearby. The next day, Plug was sent to spy on the other faction, led by brigade member Bardi, and learned that they were trying to turn the TIE Avenger to aim its weapons at Gerdis's group. Later that night, Plug and the others gathered in the center of the rendezvous point so that Gerdis and Bardi could compete in a game of Five Hands to decide who was in charge.

During the game, Andor escaped from captivity and snuck toward the TIE Avenger as a Yavinian doodar charged the brigade and snatched up Bardi and Gerdis in its jaws. Plug cried out in dismay at the loss of the two leaders and then joined the others in firing on the TIE Avenger when they realized Andor was escaping in it. Their blasters had little effect on the starfighter, and Andor departed Yavin, leaving Plug and the others stranded once more.

Biography

Stranded on Yavin

"We got ambushed. We lost six ships, forty fighters."

Plug was a human who, during the reign of the Galactic Empire, served in the Maya Pei Brigade, a group of rebels led by the eponymous Maya Pei. The brigade was ambushed in 4 BBY and lost six starships and forty starfighters, with the brigade member Gerdis claiming that Pei herself also perished. Plug was among a group of sixteen brigade members who survived the ambush and managed to escape to[1] the moon Yavin 4,[3] where one of the survivors, the brother of fellow brigade member Bardi, told the rest of the group he was going to search for other survivors of the ambush before leaving with their only starship. Stranded on the moon, Plug and the other fourteen survivors then came upon the pilot Porko, a member of the allied Axis network, waiting at a rendezvous point. After Porko fired on the survivors and tried to flee, the group killed him.[1]

Plug and his allies captured Cassian Andor on Yavin 4.

When Bardi's brother had not returned two days later, some began to assume that he had abandoned them, including Gerdis, who was acting as the group's self-proclaimed leader. Plug and the other survivors hid in the undergrowth around the rendezvous point when an Imperial TIE Avenger approached the site. When its pilot, Cassian Andor, emerged, expecting to find Porko, Gerdis called out to him and warned that there were fifteen blasters pointed at him. Bardi chastised Gerdis for revealing the group's numbers and, as the pair argued, Andor surrendered and threw his blaster pistol to the ground.[1]

Plug and the others then emerged and surrounded the captive Andor, who claimed he was not an Imperial as Gerdis and Bardi quarreled while trying to question the new arrival. The brigade's pilot, Rika, then revealed a TIE pilot helmet she had discovered as proof that Andor was an Imperial, causing Plug and the others to aim their weapons at him.[1]

Hunger in the jungle

"Is there anything to eat in there?"
"No!"

Plug asked if there was any food in the TIE Avenger.

Gerdis, Bardi, Rika, the brigade member Crab, and the prisoner then entered the TIE Avenger's cockpit to inspect it and quickly realized that Rika did not know how to fly it, leaving Andor the only one who could. While brigade members Rowd and Musk waited at the foot of the starfighter's entry ramp, Plug climbed the ramp and asked those inside if there was anything to eat in the ship. Bardi and Rika both loudly responded in the negative, causing Plug to step back.[1]

The group then left Crab guarding Andor while they discussed what to do next, arguing about who would go first if they made multiple trips. When Bardi claimed they needed to give Rika time to learn how to fly the TIE, Plug questioned how long that would take. Having learned who the group was from Crab, Andor—who was also part of the Axis network—then approached and revealed his allies had worked with Pei in the past and that he and Porko had been stealing the TIE Avenger for the rebellion. When he still refused to name who specifically he worked for, Crab lunged at him, and Plug, Rika, and Bardi jumped in to hold their comrade back.[1]

That night, the whole group gathered between the TIE Avenger and a wrecked Breon HOY-39 Dayvan starship nearby to continue discussing their next steps. An argument broke out between Gerdis and Crab, who claimed Maya Pei was dead, and Bardi, Rika, and Rowd, who claimed she was not. After Rika accused Crab of lying, saying he had hidden in the bunker during the ambush and had not seen anything, Crab demanded she repeat the claim. The pilot taunted him and called him a bad liar, so Crab shot her and was, in turn, shot by Rowd. A blasterfight then broke out between the remaining survivors, who split into two groups, one led by Bardi falling back to the TIE Avenger and the other led by Gerdis falling back into the Breon HOY-39 with Andor.[1]

Choosing a side

Bardi: "What did you do with Rika's body?"
Gerdis: "What?"
Plug: "Rika's body?"
Bayso: "What is he talking about?"
Flek: "They can't find her either."
Gerdis: "It's a trap."
Plug: "They've got to be out there somewhere."
Gerdis: "They're messing with us."

Plug and four other brigade members—Snee, Flek, Bayso, and Snur—sided with Gerdis, and, after it began raining, Snee crawled back out of the Breon HOY-39 to search for Rika and Crab and see if they had survived. As they waited for her return, Plug questioned what she was doing and watched from the ship's doorway, responding with confusion when the opposing faction accused Gerdis and his allies of taking Rika's body after their own scout, Nazy, had failed to find it. Snee then discovered Crab's severed foot, all that remained after Yavin's creatures had found his body, and cried out in horror, causing Nazy to fire at her. As the two groups exchanged fire, Nazy and Snee fled back to their respective ships, where Snee informed Plug and the others of what she had found. Andor then advised the group to collect some of the rainwater in a tarp while they still could.[2]

Plug proposed feeding Andor moldy food to see what happened.

The following morning, fog descended on the rendezvous point, and Gerdis's faction counted out the food they had left. Plug was concerned to learn that there were only nine meal bars, asking how many snak-pods there were and refusing to eat anything moldy, although Snur claimed that would change once they got hungry enough. Plug then suggested they feed a moldy pack to Andor to see what happened, but the prisoner changed the subject by pointing out how quiet Bardi's faction was being, suggesting they make a perimeter.[2]

Plug was then sent out to sneak up to the other faction and learn what they were doing. When he took too long to return, Bayso began worrying about his absence and Flek suggested he might have been captured, although Gerdis remained unconcerned as he believed Bardi would have let them know if he had a hostage. Snee and Snur then feared that Plug being a hostage would change everything about the situation, but Gerdis claimed that Plug being captured would not change anything as they still had Andor. Flek, Snur, and Bayso then all agreed that Plug might have betrayed them in exchange for food, but Gerdis reassured them that Bardi's group did not have any food to bribe Plug with.[2]

Plug warned his allies that the TIE Avenger was being turned to target them.

Having discovered that Bardi's group had begun using ropes to turn the TIE Avenger in order to point its weapon at the Breon HOY-39 where Gerdis and his allies were hiding, Plug returned rapidly through the fog to the ship to inform his allies. He called out for those in the Breon HOY-39 not to shoot him and then jumped aboard, catching his breath before warning the group that they should be worried about the TIE.[2]

He estimated that the starfighter was moving at fifty centimeters an hour at most, and Andor warned the group that Bardi's group was going to get close to having the vehicle in place by midnight. Gerdis and his allies then began firing at the TIE Avenger to slow their progress.[2]

At least someone got to eat

Plug watched Gerdis and Bardi play Five Hands to determine he and his allies' fate.

That night, after work on pulling the TIE had stopped, Plug lay with his eyes closed and his head against Flek's leg as Gerdis began yelling taunts at Bardi's group, jolting Plug awake. After Gerdis issued a challenge to Bardi, both groups emerged from their ships with their weapons drawn and met at the center of the rendezvous point, though Flek remained in the Breon HOY-39 to guard Andor. The leaders then agreed to have everyone lower their weapons, which Plug and the others did slowly and deliberately as Gerdis counted down from three.[2]

Bardi then challenged Gerdis to a game of Five Hands using Roski rules to decide who controlled the whole group. After the leaders chose their seconds for the game, Plug and the others not taking part gathered around closely to watch. As the game proceeded, the gathered brigade members yelled and cheered, allowing Andor to free himself and subdue Flek without being heard.[2] After two tied rounds,[4] Andor snuck out of the Breon HOY-39 and began making his way toward the TIE Avenger. The brigade members paused their game when they heard a creature in the trees around them. As Plug and the others moved to investigate, a Yavinian doodar charged into them and grabbed Gerdis and Bardi in its jaws.[2]

Flek tried to warn Plug and the other survivors that Andor was escaping.

Flek tried to warn Plug and the other survivors that Andor was escaping.

Plug cried out as he and the others grabbed their weapons and began firing in the direction that the creature had exited the clearing, with Plug shouting for the others to aim at the treeline. Flek, having freed himself, then emerged and warned the group that Andor had escaped and so the brigade members turned their fire on the TIE Avenger, but to no avail, as Andor launched the starfighter and departed from Yavin 4, leaving Plug and the others behind.[2] Andor's experience with the brigade showed him how far the rebellion was from acting as an organized force.[5]

Plug sided with Gerdis when the survivors of the Maya Pei Brigade split into factions, though Gerdis seemed unconcerned when the rest of the faction thought Plug may have been taken hostage. Although the other four members of the faction—Snee, Flek, Bayso, and Snur—were initially concerned about him being a prisoner, Flek, Bayso, and Snur then agreed that Plug could not be trusted when it came to food and would be the first to defect if offered it. Despite this, Plug refused to eat any moldy food but did suggest testing it on the imprisoned Cassian Andor to see if it was safe to eat.[2] Plug had light skin, brown hair, and blue eyes.[1]

Plug was portrayed by Philip Hill-Pearson in the live-action Disney+ television series Andor, first appearing in "One Year Later" and "Sagrona Teema," the first and second episodes of the show's second season,[1] both of which aired on April 22, 2025.[6] The Yavin jungle clearing scenes involving the Maya Pei Brigade were shot at Longcross Studios.[7]

Costume designer Michael Wilkinson and concept artist Glyn Dillon worked on the costumes for the Maya Pei Brigade, treating them as threadbare survivalists who needed to contrast from the luxury refinement of costumes on Chandrila, the sophistication of costumes on Coruscant, and the agricultural workwear of Mina-Rau, all other settings on the show.[8] Plug and the other brigade members were made to appear sweaty and grubby by[9] chief textile artist[1] Jackie Moody and her breakdown team.[9] Prior to the release of the episodes, Plug was revealed in a trailer for the series released on April 14, 2025.[10]
