"We came out ahead on the trade but mostly cuz Taurill are square with eating the backalley trash that Ratty-Ratty scraped up on Ylesia."
Bandit Billie, in the Smuggler's Guide[4]

Ylesia was a terrestrial[4] planet[7] in the Ylesia system of Hutt Space[2] that, along with the Codian Moon, was the homeworld of the reek species.[5] It was situated along[8] the Shag Pabol hyperspace route.[3] The former pirate queen Maz Kanata marked it as a point of interest on a map she included in the book that would become known as the Smuggler's Guide.[4]

Behind the scenes

In the current canon, Ylesia was first mentioned in the 2015 reissue of the young readers book Journey Through Space, which was written by Ryder Windham.[7] The planet originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in The Paradise Snare, a 1997 novel written by A. C. Crispin.[9]

This assumes that the name "Shag Pabol," as used in Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, applies to the canon hyperspace route depicted on the map that matches the depiction of the Star Wars Legends route with the same name in The Essential Atlas per BlueskyLogo Jason Fry (@jasoncfry.bsky.social.) on Bluesky (post on January 3, 2025): "They are indeed the same. Same galaxy, same map. In the rare event something needs to be changed, it will be discussed. (In response to: Hi @jasoncfry.bsky.social, was hoping you could confirm for Wookieepedia purposes that the hyperspace routes depicted on the Galaxy Map given out at Celebration are intended to be the same routes as in Legends. Sorry to bother, but would make our lives much easier to have it confirmed!)" (screenshot).
