This article is about the Nihil pirate. You may be looking for the creature known as the Yeat.

"All right kiddos, here's how this is going to go. You're going to follow Yeet there off the ship. Raise your hand, Yeet."
―Squib orders the abducted children to follow Yeet[1]

Yeet was a Meerian pirate who held the rank of Strike in Tempest Runner Kara Xoo's Tempest within the Nihil marauder organization during the High Republic Era and had a history of tragically losing new Nihil recruits. After arriving on the planet Dalna, the temporary stronghold of Xoo's Tempest in 230 BBY, she escorted the girl Avon Starros and the other children who had been kidnapped from their respective planets to join the Nihil off of the Poisoned Barb—the flagship of Xoo—to the world's surface. On Dalna, Yeet and the other Nihil began claiming children for their respective Strikes in order to begin training them with the intention of eventually using them to bring glory to the Nihil. In 230 BBY, she and fellow Nihil Deva Lompop evacuated Avon from the Starlight Beacon space station as it was being destroyed.

Biography

"I was on the Poisoned Barb when we took Avon from Port Haileap. And Ghirra sent me and Yeet to grab Avon from Starlight before it went down."
―Deva Lompop explains her history with Avon Starros, including Yeet's involvement[2]

Yeet was a Meerian pirate in the Nihil marauder organization who held the rank of Strike—the lowest rank in the Nihil hierarchy—in Quarren Kara Xoo's Tempest, one of the Nihil's[1] three Tempests.[3] According to Nihil scientist Doctor Zadina Mkampa, she had a tragic history of losing recruits.[1] In 230 BBY,[4] the Strike arrived on[1] the Outer Rim[5] planet Dalna—the temporary stronghold of Kara Xoo's Tempest—aboard the Poisoned Barb, Xoo's flagship. The Strike Squib entered the cargo hold of the Poisoned Barb and pointed a blaster at a group of children who had been kidnapped to become recruits for the Nihil, ordering them to follow Yeet off the ship. Yeet led them to the surface, where more children had been kidnapped to join the Nihil.[1]

She led the children to a dais and gathered them in a large group, where Xoo informed them they would have to prove their worth to become recruits that would bring glory to the Nihil. Yeet and Squib walked up to Avon Starros, a girl who had been kidnapped from[1] the Outer Rim[5] planet Haileap, and her friends, claiming them for their Strike. Doctor Mkampa and Deva Lompop, another member of Xoo's Tempest, told them they could have all of them except Starros as they needed her to be Mkampa's assistant. A few days later, Yeet taught Petri—a boy who had been abducted from[1] the Colonies planet[6] Hynestia—how to use a blaster and later took the boy on a Nihil mission.[1]

At some point, Yeet joined the personal team of marauders serving Senator Ghirra Starros—Avon's mother—who had affiliated herself with the Nihil. During the destruction of the Starlight Beacon space station[2] in 230 BBY,[7] Ghirra sent Yeet and Lompop to evacuate her daughter from the station. Though Avon initially refused to leave with the pair, she eventually agreed to depart with them after they ensured her friend, Padawan Imri Cantaros—who had concealed his nature as a Jedi—would be allowed to leave with them and relocate to a safe location.[2] In 228 BBY,[7] Avon and Lompop talked about the day of Starlight Beacon's destruction, including Yeet's involvement in evacuating the former.[2]

Personality and traits

"Oh, well, I suppose you can return to the oversight of Yeet and Squib. But I will warn you. They keep…losing recruits. Tragically."
―Dr. Mkampa gives Avon Starros the choice between being her assistant or returning to serve under Yeet[1]

Yeet had silver skin and gold, ropey hair. Among the Nihil, she developed a reputation for losing recruits and was willing to train children to work as marauders.[1]

Behind the scenes

Yeet first appeared in Justina Ireland's 2021 junior novel The High Republic: Mission to Disaster, published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[8]

  7. 7.0 7.1 Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 4 takes place one year and two weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. Since the events of The High Republic Adventures (2023) 6 are set immediately following the fourth issue and depict the expansion of the Stormwall, the expansion must have taken place in the same year. Meanwhile, the events of "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: No Big Deal" include the Stormwall's expansion and also depict the start of Pikka Adren's pregnancy. A later story, "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: Sparks Fly," states that Adren is eight months pregnant during its events, indicating that it is set eight months after "No Big Deal," and therefore one year, eight months, and two weeks after the fall of Starlight Beacon. "Sparks Fly" is set during the Battle of Eriadu, an event that begins in The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular. As StarWars.com Star Wars: The High Republic Chronological Reader's Guide on StarWars.com (article) (backup link) places The High Republic: Defy the Storm between the events of "No Big Deal" and The Wedding Spectacular, its events must also be set in 228 BBY.
