"We Shall Double Our Efforts" is a story in the canon comic Tales from the Death Star. The story was written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Juan Samu, and published by Dark Horse Comics on October 17, 2023.

Plot summary
After Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod promised Darth Vader that they would double their efforts to complete the DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station for the Emperor's imminent arrival, Lieutenant Commander Tril Jindrax, a technician in the Imperial Engineering Corps, laments the unrealistic expectations that fall on his team and, ultimately, himself. Upon the Emperor's arrival, however, Jindrax and fellow technician Anna Param notice the crates of Sith relics being unloaded from his shuttle. Param explains that Aklin knew a powerful ring which could raise the dead was among the relics. One of Palpatine's Sith acolytes trips over a cord, nearly toppling a crate, giving Jindrax an opening for conversation in helping the acolyte.
Distracting the acolyte with his interest in the relics, Jindrax manages to swipe the powerful ring, hoping to use its power to revive the many technicians slain during the arduous construction process of the Second Death Star in order to increase efficiency. Param, on the other hand, is hesitant to steal from the Emperor, even for a noble cause. Within the morgue, Jindrax uses the ring to awaken the dead technicians, and he orders the undead workers to resume construction.
Jindrax soon becomes aware of drawbacks to his methods, including the odors of the undead and their aggression towards the living. One technician, Takk, gets attacked by a drone, killing her. Jindrax commands the drone to stop and revives Takk to join the horde of reanimated workers.
Before long, Darth Vader becomes aware of the presence of the undead on the station and investigates. Before he arrives, however, Param desperately pleads with Jindrax to end the irresponsible practice and threatens to expose him to Jerjerrod and Vader. In response, Jindrax gleefully sends his army of the dead to slaughter her, forcing her to join the horde. As Vader approaches, he witnesses a Death Star Trooper get murdered and integrated into the undead forces. The Sith Lord ignites his lightsaber and begins fighting off the increasingly aggressive drones.
Jindrax finds himself losing control of the drones, and before the corpse of Param can kill him, Vader throws her off of the Lieutenant Commander. The technician tells Vader that the ring controlled his actions, and Vader takes back the Emperor's relic. Vader then leaves, allowing Jindrax to be slaughtered by the remaining drones and ensuring their labor force remains active.
