The Var Hagen sector was a sector of the Mid Rim Territories that contained the Alakatha, Lanthe, Miriatin, Opiteihr, Ventran, Vogel, Vondarc, and Zusi systems all in grid square M-16 of the Standard Galactic Grid. It also included the Ch'manss system in grid square M-17[1] in the New Territories.[2] The Alakatha system contained the terrestrial astronomical object Alakatha, which was known for its beaches,[3] and the Miriatin system contained the world Miriatin, where an entire patrol mutinied against the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War, with only a third surviving to escape offworld.[4]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, the Var Hagen sector was mentioned in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both were written by Jason Fry.[5]
The sector originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in "For a Few Kilotons More," an adventure in the Twin Stars of Kira supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, which was written by Michael Allen Horne and published by West End Games in 1993.[6] The sector was first named in 2011 when it was depicted on a map designed by Modi and published in the Essential Atlas Extra: Sectors of the Mid Rim." feature of StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, which was written by Daniel Wallace and Fry.[7]
