"I declare this session open. The floor recognizes the representative from Ithor."
―Chancellor Palpatine, opening the debate on the hyperlane intersecting the Urce sector[2]

The Urce sector, also known as Urce Space, was a Mid Rim sector that contained the Entuur, Fitca Prime, Pa'hir'al, and Urce systems. In 28 BBY, Ithorians sought to make the map to a hyperspace route running through the Lesser Plooriod Cluster and within the Urce sector public in a motion within the Galactic Senate.

Description

The Urce sector,[2] also known as Urce Space,[1] was a space sector located in the Mid Rim Territories[1] and the Trailing Sectors regions of the galaxy.[3] It was situated within the star cluster known as the Lesser Plooriod Cluster, which was inhabited by humans.[2] The Urce sector contained the Entuur, Fitca Prime, Pa'hir'al, and Urce systems, which were situated in grid squares L-6 and L-7 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1]

History

A hyperspace route mapped by Ithorians from[2] the planet[4] Ithor and later by the Trade Federation[2] megacorporation[5] intersected with the Urce sector.[2] In 28 BBY,[6] the Ithorians sought to make the map of the hyperspace route public in a motion within the Senate of the Galactic Republic. Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine opened the Senate floor for debate, allowing a human senator and a Trade Federation delegate to argue with the Ithorian senator proposing the initiative. Senator Padmé Amidala voted in favor of the motion, musing that the Urce sector's inhabitants only held a claim to a part of the route, whereas the Ithorians had been using the route long before the Trade Federation mapped it. However, the motion ultimately failed.[2]

Urce Space in the Star Wars Legends continuity

In the current Star Wars canon, the Urce sector was mentioned in Queen's Shadow, a 2019 young-adult novel written by E. K. Johnston as the first installment of Star Wars: Queen's Series.[2] It was later identified as Urce Space in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix[1] written by Jason Fry[7] that was published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025.[7]

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, a region named Urce Space was first introduced via mention in Alliance Intelligence Reports, a 1995 roleplaying sourcebook published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[8] It was first depicted on a 2011 map designed by Modi, released as part of the StarWars.com Online Companion to[9] the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Fry.[10] Urce Space was later identified as the Urce sector in The Essential Guide to Warfare, a 2012 reference book written by Fry and Paul R. Urquhart.[11]
