- "That was a direct order! Which one of you's the chief?"
- ―The bandit, to villagers on Genbara
A bandit trooper with fins that stretched to both sides of their helmet was a human active on the Outer Rim planet Genbara around two decades after the Sith rebellion. Part of a group known as Bandit Troopers, the man served under the self-proclaimed Dark Lord of the Sith Kouru, operating from a deserted village in the mountains of Genbara. During a raid on a nearby village, the trooper took part in the attempt to extort goods from the local population before being killed in the ensuing skirmish with hired bodyguards.
Biography
Genbara raid
Two decades after the Sith rebellion, the man was a part of the Bandit Troopers—a group of individuals believed by a teahouse shopkeep to be either soldiers, former soldiers, or ex-Sith troops[1]—the last remnants of the war,[2] led by self-proclaimed Dark Lord of the Sith Kouru on the Outer Rim planet Genbara.[1] The fallen troopers[4] had set up camp on an abandoned outpost[2] in a deserted village in the mountainside of Genbara at the time.[1]
The troopers make their way into the village.
Kouru led the trooper and the rest of the entourage to a nearby village onboard a mobile armored vessel.[1] Upon arriving at the town square, the marauder joined the others in forcibly rounding up the villagers, pulling one of them by the neck and throwing the individual to the ground. After the locals were corralled at the main square, the unit commander addressed them, demanding goods as a form of tax,[1] and ordering the villagers to open up the storehouse.[5]
Firefight and death

Met with silence, the trooper, who stood next to the commander, leered at the crowd and reiterated the commander's order, asking who was the village chief. As a young boy identified himself as the leader, the troopers taunted and laughed at him. The boy then gave the signal to several hidden bounty hunters hired as bodyguards to fire at the invaders, eliciting a barrage of blaster bolts.[1]
After the commander was hit by blasterfire, the bandit checked on their superior, before running for cover behind crates that stood at the main square. With the help of Kouru, who emerged from the transport, the troopers managed to gain the upper hand. Sometime later, as she dueled[2] the former Sith known as the Ronin, her opponent activated a button on his wrist cuff, prompting his companion astromech droid R5-D56 to fly into the village square. The trooper noticed the droid, who moments later launch a salvo of missiles that killed the trooper and all other bandits in the group.[1]
Personality and traits
At the time of the skirmish on Genbara, the physically fit human male trooper stood at over 1.7 meters tall[3] and had long, black hair, a goatee stubble,[2] and missing teeth.[6] The trooper took on a supportive role relative to the unit's commander, berating the villagers and demanding compliance from them.[1]
Equipment
The bandit spots R5-D56 approaching
The bandit, like their fellow comrades, wore scraps of discarded armor when raiding on Genbara.[1] Their helmet was a stormtrooper's, with fins that stretched to both sides and two pockets that could hold blaster magazines. It was coupled with goggles from clone trooper armor, and the cuirass from a snowtrooper, the latter of which had a small wooden board inserted into it.[4]
Also worn were sandals, stormtrooper gloves, and a First Order stormtrooper groin piece over a loincloth, whose belt supported a bamboo tube that could be used to store water. Several poutices were applied to the legs and arms. The bandit slung aroung their body a RT-97C heavy blaster rifle with its stock, and kept two E-11 medium blaster rifles holstered on either leg.[4]

Details on each trooper's gear
The bandit first appeared in "The Duel," a non-canon short film released as part of the first volume of the Star Wars: Visions series, produced by Kamikaze Douga and released on Disney+[2] on September 22, 2021.[7] Before the short's release, they were first pictured in a video uploaded to the official Star Wars YouTube channel on July 3, 2021.[8] The character was voiced by Ikuto Kanemasa in Japanese and by Patrick Seitz in the English dub.[2]
Originally designed by Takashi Okazaki, the bandit, along with the rest of the troops, was inspired by the nobushi-style[9] thieves in the 1954 Akira Kurosawa film Seven Samurai, in which each of the antagonists wore scrap armor cobbled together in unique ways.[4] "The Duel" director Takanobu Mizuno expressed a particular affinity for Trooper A,[4] whom he viewed as a "small fry." In the designs for the character, the trooper was partially toothless, prompting the director to ask voice actor Kanemasa to say his lines as if he had missing teeth.[6] In concept art, the bandit was labeled as "Trooper A," and revealed to be over 1.7 meters tall.[3] Another piece of production material provided further details on the armor and weapons on the trooper's body.[4]
