"Here we go."
―The Tarsunt, preparing for battle[1]

An X-wing pilot was a Tarsunt pilot for the New Republic. Around 9 ABY, their squadron was deployed to the isolated planet At Attin in order to repel a pirate invasion of this forsaken world.

Biography

A Tarsunt individual joined the New Republic Starfighter Corps[1] at some point by 9 ABY.[2] During that time, a group of younglings[3] known as the Skeleton Crew[4] accidentally departed from their home planet of At Attin on an interplanetary journey.[3] The children allied themselves with former pirate Captain Jod Na Nawood, with whom they travelled to the Observatory Moon to seek help from the female astronomer Kh'ymm. The woman discovered that At Attin was one of the Jewels of the Old Republic, or a forsaken world accommodating an Old Republic credit mint, and helped pinpoint the coordinates[5] that ultimately allowed the Skeleton Crew to return to their home planet.[6] The Mission to the Observatory Moon ended abruptly when Kh'ymm summoned a New Republic squadron, fearing for the safety of Na Nawood's young companions. The squadron, however, failed to stop the Skeleton Crew's escape[5] aboard the Onyx Cinder[7] for fear of posing a threat to the lives of the young crewmembers.[5] The younglings and Na Nawood ultimately split their ways,[7] with Na Nawood—also known by his pirate name "Silvo"—regaining the command of his former crew.[6] By posing as a Galactic Republic emissary, Silvo managed to destroy "the Supervisor," a droid responsible for overseeing the Great Work of credit minting on At Attin, and ordered his crew to launch a planetary invasion. Cooperating with their parents, the Skeleton Crew younglings managed to bypass the Barrier that isolated At Attin and contact Kh'ymm, who—in turn—alerted the New Republic to inform them of the pirate invasion of the forsaken planet. Soon after, Undersecretary Fara disabled the Barrier altogether from the Supervisor's Tower, leading to a series explosions rippling across the sky as the green Barrier burned away.[1]

The X-wings strafe the pirate frigate

The X-wings strafe the pirate frigate

Fara's deed allowed the New Republic squadron to reach the planet's surface. A total of eight T-65 X-wing starfighters, of which one was operated by the Tarsunt, descended from space, backed up by two B-wings. Commander Kent ordered the squadron to lock their S-foils in attack positions, and other pilots provided their respondes. As Cail-tan set their deflector shields double forward, the Tarsunt said, "Here we go," before the X-wings strafed Silvo's pirate frigate[1] with laser fire.[8] As the rounded-up At Attin citizens cheered down on the surface, the pirates started to retreat on their pirate dropships, only to be attacked by the X-wings in the air. Finally, the B-wings carved up through the upper side of the pirate frigate. As the bombarded ship drifted out of control and rested in a local water canal, two X-wings were patrolling by before flying off into the night. With the pirate invasion repelled, a New Republic CR90 corvette descended on the planet.[1]

Personality and traits

A dark-skinned member of the Tarsunt species, the X-wing pilot sported a K-22995 light flight helmet adorned with a decal on the right side. The individual also wore a dark beard.[1]

Behind the scenes

This pilot was portrayed by Andrea Detwiler in "The Real Good Guys,"[1] the eighth episode of the Disney+ live-action series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which aired on January 14, 2025.[9] This character's name is not spoken in the episode, but they were listed in the credits as "Tarsunt X-wing pilot".[1]

  2. Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" of The Mandalorian Season One to 9 ABY. In addition, SWInsider "A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of Star Wars: The Mandalorian must all be set in 9 ABY as well. StarWars.com SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.
