The Skeleton Crew[6] was a crew active from around 9 ABY.[3] It was made up of a group of four younglings and based on the starship Onyx Cinder after they discovered it buried underneath the surface of At Attin, a lost planet. The younglings, consisting of Fern as the captain, KB, Neel, and Wim, enlisted the Cinder's previous First Mate, SM-33, after they reactivated the droid.[1] The pirate Jod Na Nawood, also known as Captain Silvo or Crimson Jack, joined the crew as he also attempted to reach At Attin,[7] but did so in order to steal the mint on At Attin.
History
At first, the four younglings divided amongst themselves into two distinct groups. The boys, Wim and Neel, as one group and the girls, Fern and KB, as the other. However, during their adventures, the four, who had initially fought over who had "claimsies" on the ship and who got to be captain, learned to trust one another and became a single crew. During their trip to At Achrann, Wim, who had previously wished to be captain of the Onyx Cinder instead of Fern, asserted that Fern was the right choice for captain after all. He then added that, had he been captain, they would never have gotten as far as they had under Fern's leadership.
During the Mission to Skull Ridge Mountain, after Jod Na Nawood betrayed the Skeleton Crew over his greed and Wim saved KB's life when her prosthetics failed, the four grew even closer to each other. Fern then learned to take into account the limitations posed by both KB's prosthetics and Neel being a Myykian. As Neel was a member of an elephantine species, he was less capable of climbing than humans, such as Fern. KB and Neel, in turn, learned to assert their needs and desires, and all four learned to further appreciate each other. Fern came into her own, as captain, when both her leadership skills and her ability to delegate under pressure were tested as the crew narrowly escaped from a trash compactor while aboard the Onyx Cinder. A challenge that required the crew to both engage the emergency hull demolition sequencer while relying on the individual skills of each member of the crew.

"A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of Star Wars: The Mandalorian must all be set in 9 ABY as well.
SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.
