Biography

Around 1998, artist Tsuyoshi Nagano saw a Star Wars novel at a bookstore and was inspired to ask his employer, Takeshobo, publisher of the Japanese Star Wars novels, if he could do cover art for the novels. Nagano had been a fan of Star Wars since seeing it in school, and the first laserdisc he bought was Star Wars, so he was "really excited" to take on the project. The first job he got was to do the cover art for a Willow novel, and his boss Junzo Takagi was impressed with his work. Afterwards, Nagano was given the go-ahead to create his first Star Wars novel cover art for the Hand of Thrawn duology.

Nagano went on to create 96 pieces of cover art in total for the Star Wars franchise.
