- "Captain Taggart, we've got incoming clankers!"
"We'll cover you, sir!" - ―Ahsoka Tano and Taggart
Taggart was a human who served as a captain and notable member of the Galactic Republic's elite Senate Guard during the Clone Wars, a conflict between the Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems. In 20 BBY, the captain was in charge of a detail of Senate Guards who escorted Republic diplomats to the planet Mandalore, onboard the GX1 short hauler Phoenix, for peace talks between the Republic and the Separatists. During the talks, Taggart's Senate Guards held off commando droids, allowing former Separatist Lux Bonteri and Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano to escape the planet.
Biography
Taggart was a human[1] who lived during the Republic Era,[2] serving as a captain in the Galactic Republic's[1] elite[3] Senate Guard, of which they became a notable member.[1] As a captain in the Senate Guard, Taggart led a unit of Senate Guards,[2] who were trained to protect Republic dignitaries.[4] In 20 BBY,[5] during the Clone Wars between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Duchess Satine Kryze hosted a peace conference on[2] the planet[1] Mandalore to find a peaceful solution that would end the war. Taggart, several Senate Guards, and Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano were dispatched to protect the Republic delegation, which consisted of Senators Padmé Amidala, Bail Prestor Organa, and Mon Mothma. During the conference in[2] the New Mandalorian capital city Sundari,[1] Taggart and some of their forces were stationed at the docks with the Phoenix, the Republic delegation's[2] GX1 short hauler,[6] while the conference was held in the Sundari Royal Palace.[2]

During that time, Tano, along with the former Separatist Lux Bonteri, arrived where Taggart and their troops were standing guard. Tano had rescued Bonteri from a potential execution by the Separatists for interrupting the peace conference, and the duo was chased through the city by Separatist Commando Droid Diplomats. After Tano told Taggart that she and Bonteri were being chased by commando droids, the captain and their forces responded by giving the two adolescents cover fire to reach the Phoenix, which attracted the battle droids' attention. Both sides sustained several losses in the following skirmish.[2]
Personality and traits
When Ahsoka Tano and Lux Bonteri were chased by Separatist troops during the peace conference on Mandalore, Taggart helped the duo by fighting the battle droids.[2]
Skills and abilities
As a Senate Guard, Taggart was trained in armed and unarmed combat, as well as security operations.[7]
Equipment
Taggart wore blue Senate Guard armor, including a blue helmet which included a ceremonial double plume and a faceplate with a dark visor. Additionally, the captain was armed with a DC-15A blaster rifle.[2]
