The Syphus Collective was a Selkath isolationist group with a wide range of beliefs, including religious zealotry towards Progenitor, conservationism, eco-terrorism, traditionalism, and anti-war extremism. Their beliefs were inspired by Ahto University Professor, Doctor Narlan Syphus, who taught that Manaan was a collective organism, and that contact with the wider galaxy threatened the 'organism'. His students then formed the collective as a peaceful group that advocated for Manaan neutrality and isolationism, however when the Manaan government refused their demands to stay neutral in the upcoming Third Galactic War, the group turned to terrorism to achieve its goals.[1]

History

By c. 3625 BBY[3] the organisation had occupied the Temple of the Progenitor in the Asutvu Rift on Manaan, where it was being led by an individual known as The Conservator. During the Invasion of Manaan, the group attracted more members as the Republic and Sith forces battled to control Manaan's Kolto supply. The Sith sent the Krallet Division to deal with the Syphus Collective, however they were defeated by the Alliance Commander, who had been sent in to deal with the Division by the Manaan Special Warfare Group.[4]

Behind the scenes

If the Alliance Commander sides with the Imperials, they instead are tasked by Shak Los to clear out the Temple so that Shak can smuggle the artefacts in exchange for a map to Kolto deposits. Within this mission, the player encounters The Conservator, and can choose to make a deal with him, turning the Syphus Collective into spies for the Sith, however this upsets Shak Los and he refuses to give the map, leading to the loss of the Kolto deposit. The player can also choose to kill The Conservator.
