- "Sarkhai is covered in thick woodlands, which makes it great for foragin' all sorts of unique flora."
- ―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook
Sarkhai was a world located[1] in the Sarkhai system within the M'shinni sector of[2] the Mid Rim Territories.[1] It was situated in grid square M-7 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[2] Sarkhai was covered in thick woodlands and was the homeworld of the Sarkhai species, known for painting their faces to protect themselves from predators that lurked in the forests. According to the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs, the world was perfect for searching for all kinds of unique flora, including algae.[1] Sarkhai shared its name with the starship Moon of Sarkhai, used by the Path of the Open Hand cult[3] in 382 BBY.[4]
Some time between 34 ABY and 35 ABY,[5] Tuggs traveled to Sarkhai and unearthed the ingredients necessary to cook Sarkhai Crisps. Tuggs later included the recipe for the Crisps as well a retelling of his journey to Sarkhai in his cookbook The Ultimate Cookbook[1] that was published in 35 ABY.[5]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, Sarkhai was mentioned in the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak.[1] Sarkhai was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity in BioWare's 2011 massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic.[6]

- ↑ Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of The High Republic: Path of Vengeance to 382 BBY.
- ↑ 5.0 5.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
