- "ROOOAAARRR! *grunt*"
- ―A roggwart roar
Roggwarts were large, predatory beasts with curved horns, long tails, and thick skin from the planet Mustafar, Vendaxa, and Guiteica. During the Clone Wars, General Grievous kept a roggwart named "Gor" as a pet.
Biology and appearance
Roggwarts are large,[2] predatory, semi-sentient beasts, standing 4 meters tall and weighing a quarter-tonne,[7] with massive, vicious,[2] flesh-tearing fangs[8] and twin horns that curve forwards from the top of their head,[2] and can lure in prey with their sticky projectile tongue.[7] They had powerful leg muscles,[8] and a lengthy tail ends with three prehensile graspers used to impale or seize a foe, while their robust muscular bodies can withstand blaster shots,[2] lava,[3] and even certain lightsaber wounds. The creature also had long claws on their hands and feet.[2]
Roggwarts were favorite pets of the Kaleesh warriors.[5]
Behavior
The creatures have an aggressive nature, and only those taken from the most young of age are able to be trained as pets or guardians.[7]
History
- "Give a warm Nar Shaddaa welcome to the last of his kind.... Kongo the Disemboweler!"
- ―The announcer in the match between Kongo, a roggwart, and Luke Skywalker
Roggwarts were native to the Outer Rim planet[9] Mustafar,[4] Vendaxa,[6] and Wild Space[10] planet Guiteica.[6] At some point, the roggwarts was taken as trophies by the warlords of Kaleesh[7] from their battles with the Bitthævrian homeworld of Guiteica.[6] During the Clone Wars, General Grievous kept a pet roggwart named Gor[2] as a guard[8] in his castle on the third moon of Vassek. Gor was roughly the size of a rancor and had been enhanced by EV-A4-D with cybernetics[2] including mechanical arms attached to the creature's back.[8] Gor was released to attack the Nautolan Jedi Master Kit Fisto, the Mon Calamari Jedi Knight Nahdar Vebb, and Clone Commander Fil. Though Fil was slain after Gor grabbed him with his tail and slammed him into the ground, the roggwart proved to be no match for Master Fisto, who used his lightsaber to kill the beast.[2]
On Nar Shaddaa, Grakkus the Hutt ran arena fighting at his palace that, sometime after the Battle of Yavin, featured Kongo the Disembowler, who was advertised as the last of his kind.[3]
Crokind Shand of Kanjiklub used a heavy bore rifle with a reinforced-galven circuit barrel and a roggwart bone rifle butt.[11]
