Rion was a planet in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy,[1] orbited by multiple moons.[4] During the High Republic Era, the Skembo Ceeril served as the ambassador of Rion.[7] The human Jedi Kanan Jarrus and the Twi'lek pilot Hera Syndulla spent time together on the planet's moons during the early years of the Galactic Empire's reign. Jarrus would later be reminded of his time on the moons of Rion while drinking Spiran caf with Syndulla onboard the VCX-100 light freighter Ghost.[4] After the Battle of Yavin, the Rebel Alliance sent the Millennium Falcon to the planet on a mission to buy supplies from Razian. Han Solo almost derailed the operation when he signed up to race the Rion Swoop.[1]
Behind the scenes
Rion was first mentioned in canon in the StarWars.com trivia gallery for the Star Wars Rebels episode "Out of Darkness."[4] It first appeared in "Swoop Racers," a comic written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Derek Charm, and published in Star Wars Adventures (2017) 21[1] on May 8, 2019.[8]
In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Rion was first created for the 1980 newspaper comic strip The Second Kessel Run, written by Archie Goodwin and penciled by Russ Manning.[9]

This assumes that the name "Pabol Sleheyron," as used in Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 29 Guide to the Galaxy: Major Trade Routes, applies to the canon hyperspace route depicted on the map that matches the depiction of the Star Wars Legends route with the same name in The Essential Atlas per
Jason Fry (@jasoncfry.bsky.social.) on Bluesky (post on January 3, 2025): "They are indeed the same. Same galaxy, same map. In the rare event something needs to be changed, it will be discussed. (In response to: Hi @jasoncfry.bsky.social, was hoping you could confirm for Wookieepedia purposes that the hyperspace routes depicted on the Galaxy Map given out at Celebration are intended to be the same routes as in Legends. Sorry to bother, but would make our lives much easier to have it confirmed!)" (screenshot).
