The Ringlite system was a star system in the Outer Rim Territories' Tamarin sector. In 232 BBY, several thousand people in the system died due to the impact of an Emergence of the Great Hyperspace Disaster. Four years later, following the Nihil marauders' expansion of the Stormwall hyperspace barrier, Ringlite fell within the borders of the group's Occlusion Zone. Later that year, the Stormwall's fall dissolved the Occlusion Zone.
Description
The Ringlite system was a star system situated in the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Western Reaches'[2] Tamarin sector,[4] situated in grid square N-19 of the Standard Galactic Grid. A hyperspace route connected the system to[3] the planets[5][6] Sevarcos and Valo.[3]
History
During the Great Hyperspace Disaster in 232 BBY, the system was impacted by an Emergence—one of a series of reversions from hyperspace to realspace of debris from the destroyed Legacy Run freighter.[7] The event resulted in the deaths of several thousand people in the system, although its security squads prevented further loss of life.[1]
Lina Soh widened the hyperspace travel ban following the Ringlite system's Emergence.
The Ringlite system's Emergence led Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh of the Galactic Republic to further widen the range of her ban on most hyperspace travel until the galaxy's hyperspace routes were made safer. Due to the tragedy, the Serennian senator Izzet Noor opted not to challenge the decision as he normally would have despite an increasing economical pressure to allow trade to continue in the Outer Rim. Not long thereafter, Jedi Master Avar Kriss thought of the Emergence while visiting the heads of the San Tekka clan of hyperspace prospectors during her investigation into what had caused the Great Hyperspace Disaster.[1]
In 230 BBY, the Nihil marauders' formed the Occlusion Zone—an area of space situated behind the Stormwall barrier that prevented hyperspace travel with the rest of Republic space.[8] Valo was enveloped by the Occlusion Zone,[6] thus cutting it off from hyperspace travel with the Ringlite system.[3] In 228 BBY,[9] the Stormwall and thereby the Occlusion Zone was expanded,[10] this time enveloping the Ringlite system inside its borders.[3] Later that year,[11] the Nihil surrendered to the Republic following the Stormwall barrier's fall, which dissolved Occlusion Zone as a territory. Locations in the former Occlusion Zone, were welcomed back into the Republic if they wished to re-join. However, some instead opted to retain their independence, while others remained under the control of individual Nihil warlords.[12]
Inhabitants
By the High Republic Era, at least several thousand people lived in the Ringlite system, though many perished during an Emergence in the system.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Ringlite system was first mentioned in the 2021 novel Light of the Jedi, written by Charles Soule as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[13]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 4 takes place one year and two weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. Since the events of The High Republic Adventures (2023) 6 are set immediately following the fourth issue and depict the expansion of the Stormwall, the expansion must have taken place in the same year. Meanwhile, the events of "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: No Big Deal" include the Stormwall's expansion and also depict the start of Pikka Adren's pregnancy. A later story, "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: Sparks Fly," states that Adren is eight months pregnant during its events, indicating that it is set eight months after "No Big Deal," and therefore one year, eight months, and two weeks after the fall of Starlight Beacon. "Sparks Fly" is set during the Battle of Eriadu, an event that begins in The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular. As
Star Wars: The High Republic Chronological Reader's Guide on StarWars.com (article) (backup link) places The High Republic: Defy the Storm between the events of "No Big Deal" and The Wedding Spectacular, its events must also be set in 228 BBY.
