The Outer Rim Territories' Ringlite system had security squads that operated during the High Republic Era.[1] When the system was impacted by an Emergence—pieces of hyperspace debris from the destroyed Legacy Run freighter—in 232 BBY during the Great Hyperspace Disaster,[2] the squads worked diligently to save as many people as possible. Despite the deaths of several thousand Ringlite system residents, they managed to prevent further loss of life.[1]
The Ringlite system Emergence was considered a tragedy by many in the Galactic Republic, and the event spurred Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh to further widen the range of her ban on most hyperspace travel until the galaxy's hyperspace routes were safer. Not long after, Jedi Master Avar Kriss thought of the Emergence—and the Ringlite system's security squads' role in mitigating the aftermath—during her investigation into what had spurred the Great Hyperspace Disaster.[1]

The squads were mentioned in the 2021 novel Light of the Jedi, written by Charles Soule as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[3]
