Rebel Force: Uprising is the sixth and final installment of the Star Wars: Rebel Force series. It was written by Alex Wheeler and was released in May 2010.
Publisher's summary
It was supposed to be a simple mission to the palace of Nyemari. Quick, covert, easy.
But before the Rebels can get off the planet, Luke receives a mysterious—and deadly—message from former Imperial Commander Rezi Soresh. Though Soresh's assassin, X-7, didn't manage to kill Luke, Soresh hasn't given up on vengeance.
Luke must surrender himself, or Soresh is prepared to kill a ship full of innocent travelers. Luke has no choice. To save the hostages, he must follow Soresh's directions.
Even if they lead straight into a trap.
Plot summary
Commander Rezi Soresh, outcast from the Empire, hides out on a barren moon in the Sixela system to plan his revenge against Luke Skywalker. During a covert Rebel mission on Nyemari, Luke receives a chilling holographic ultimatum from Soresh. The Imperial commander has captured an innocent passenger liner and threatens to kill those aboard unless Luke surrenders himself. Despite being certain that the message is a trap, Luke cannot risk the lives of captives. He becomes Soresh's prisoner and is subjected to the intensive brainwashing techniques that produced such assassins as X-7. Luke's will is strong, however, and he only pretends to be Soresh's servile subject.
Soresh's elaborate plan of vengeance involves both using Luke to lure Darth Vader to Sixela and disseminating reports of Imperial fleet movements to attract the attention of the Rebellion. With all parties drawn to Sixela, Soresh will then detonate an experimental resonance torpedo in the system's star, destroying them all and thus eliminating his rival and winning favor with the Emperor. Though Soresh launches the missile, he is shot dead by Han Solo. Princess Leia and Luke help evacuate everyone from the Sixela moon, and they warn both fleets of the impeding cataclysm.
In the space battle over Sixela, Lune Divinian's ship is shot down and crashes. Ferus Olin stays behind on the moon when he detects the presence of Darth Vader. Determined not to let the Dark Lord threaten Leia, Ferus duels Vader, goading him by bringing up memories of his past as Anakin Skywalker. Vader kills Ferus and leaves Sixela before the entire system is wiped out by the star going supernova.
Continuity
A month has passed between this book and Rebel Force: Trapped, thus setting the conclusion of the Rebel Force series after a brief interruption by Timothy Zahn's Allegiance. The book offered finality to the remaining story threads of Jude Watson's series of Jedi-focused books, with Lune's death bringing an end to the Divinian family. Ferus's death also ended that storyline, and as he passed away, he saw a vision of his old friend Roan Lands. The book ended with a coda set during The Empire Strikes Back (1980) told from the point of view of a spectral Obi-Was Kenobi as he appeared to Luke on Dagobah.[1]
