- "Did you water it down?"
"Pinkapple juice." - ―Elzar Mann and Avar Kriss, as they shared diluted sourstone mead
Pinkapple juice was a type of sweet-flavored juice potable to humans. During the High Republic Era, it could be found in a Jadeite neighborhood on the planet Coruscant. The Padawans Avar Kriss, Elzar Mann, and Stellan Gios began drinking the juice by mixing it with sourstone mead, to make the latter sweeter and reduce its potency for Gios.[1]
Upon Gios' death in 230 BBY,[2] his friends—by then Jedi Masters—grieved his loss.[1] In 228 BBY,[3] Kriss visited the neighborhood looking for pinkapple juice. After acquiring the drink and three keldov nut pastries from Tal-Iree's—a nearby eatery—she mixed the juice with sourstone mead and brought it to Mann's quarters in Coruscant's Jedi Temple. Kriss confirmed with Mann that she had cut the mead with pinkapple juice to sweeten it, pouring a cup for them both. They saluted each other and drank, though Kriss felt that the taste was not as good as when they were teenagers.[1]
Behind the scenes
Pinkapple juice appeared in the novel The High Republic: Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton[1] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase III and published on June 11, 2024.[4] Prior to its release, a mention of the juice was included in a StarWars.com preview for the novel on May 20 of that year.[5]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic: Temptation of the Force takes place one year and six weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon and its events span a few months, it must be set in 228 BBY.
