- "Are these from Tal-Iree's?"
"It's exactly where it used to be, down that alley in the Jadeite neighborhood."
"I'll get plates." - ―Elzar Mann and Avar Kriss
Tal-Iree's was an eatery on[1] the Core Worlds[2] planet Coruscant, located down an alleyway in a Jadeite neighborhood. By the time of the High Republic Era, it had chipped, eat-in stools and a painting over its pickup counter. The Jedi Padawans Avar Kriss, Elzar Mann, and Stellan Gios frequented the establishment, with Kriss becoming familiar with Tal-Iree's menu and the distinct scent of its offerings inside.[1]
Upon Gios' death in 230 BBY,[3] his friends—by then Jedi Masters—grieved his loss.[1] In 228 BBY,[4] Kriss visited the neighborhood and bought keldov nut pastries from Tal-Iree's. She brought them to Mann's quarters in Coruscant's Jedi Temple, explaining to the latter how she had accidentally ordered three buns out of habit. The pair drank diluted sourstone mead and shared the treats while discussing recent developments in the galaxy's conflict against the Nihil marauders.[1]
Behind the scenes
Tal-Iree's was mentioned in the novel The High Republic: Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton[1] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase III and published on June 11, 2024.[5] Prior to its release, a mention of the eatery was included in a StarWars.com preview for the novel on May 20 of that year.[6]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic: Temptation of the Force takes place one year and six weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon and its events span a few months, it must be set in 228 BBY.
