The Ord Mynock system was a star system in the Prefsbelt sector of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and New Territories,[2] falling within grid square K-6 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] It contained the planet Ord Mynock, the homeworld of the mynock, a bat-like parasitic species that fed on energy emissions.[3] Some mynocks left Ord Mynock and traveled to nearby asteroids and planetoids.[4]
Behind the scenes
The Ord Mynock system was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the "The Battle of Hoth and the Second Death Star,"[3] a booklet in a series of canon reference booklets titled the Star Wars Encyclopedia, published by Altaya on December 11, 2020.[5]
The star system originated in Star Wars Legends, where it was first mentioned as the Mynockra system in the Gamemaster Toolkit: Live-Action Adventures, a gamebook and follow-up to the Live-Action Adventures rulebook, which was released in December 1996.[6] The name Ord Mynock system was then introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, which was written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace.[7]
