- "With all due respect, Jedi Master Mann, the Hutts are losing ground daily. The R.D.C. has retaken both Ubrikkia and Ookbat in recent days, with Cols expected in a matter of weeks."
- ―Velko Jahen, to Elzar Mann
Ookbat was an astronomical object[5] located in the Ookbat system within the Kastolar sector of[3] the Mid Rim[1] and the Slice.[2] It was situated in grid square Q-10 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] The Ootmian Pabol[4] hyperspace route linked Ookbat to the celestial bodies Randon and Ubrikkia.[1] At one point, it was aligned with the Galactic Republic.[5]
By 228 BBY,[6] during the High Republic Era, Ookbat was under the control of the Hutt Clan.[5] That year,[6] the Republic Defense Coalition recaptured Ookbat from the Hutt Clan, and days later, Republic Commander Velko Jahen informed Jedi Master Elzar Mann of the development.[5]
Behind the scenes
Ookbat was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the first issue of the 2023 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic, released as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[5] Phase III. The issue was written by Cavan Scott and published by Marvel Comics on November 8, 2023.[7] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the location Ookbat was first mentioned in "Only Droids Serve the Maker," a short story written by Kathy Tyers that was published in the tenth issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal magazine in May 1996.[8]

Jason Fry (@jasoncfry.bsky.social.) on Bluesky (post on January 3, 2025): "They are indeed the same. Same galaxy, same map. In the rare event something needs to be changed, it will be discussed. (In response to: Hi @jasoncfry.bsky.social, was hoping you could confirm for Wookieepedia purposes that the hyperspace routes depicted on the Galaxy Map given out at Celebration are intended to be the same routes as in Legends. Sorry to bother, but would make our lives much easier to have it confirmed!)" (screenshot).

- ↑ 6.0 6.1 Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 4 takes place one year and two weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. Since the events of The High Republic Adventures (2023) 6 are set immediately following the fourth issue and depict the expansion of the Stormwall, the expansion must have taken place in the same year. Meanwhile, the events of "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: No Big Deal" include the Stormwall's expansion and also depict the start of Pikka Adren's pregnancy. A later story, "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: Sparks Fly," states that Adren is eight months pregnant during its events, indicating that it is set eight months after "No Big Deal," and therefore one year, eight months, and two weeks after the fall of Starlight Beacon. "Sparks Fly" is set during the Battle of Eriadu, an event that begins in The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular. As
Star Wars: The High Republic Chronological Reader's Guide on StarWars.com (article) (backup link) places The High Republic (2023) 1 between the events of "No Big Deal" and The Wedding Spectacular, its events must also be set in 228 BBY.
