Mevera Starros[2] was a human female artist who was the mother of Aryssha, and was the aunt of Sana Starros.[1]

Biography

At some point, she worked with the Soikans and took an ion cannon from them after they didn't pay her for some freelance work she had performed.[2]

Mevera smuggled a few cases of Sacha-Lo from Ghorman after a disaster there in 2 BBY[3], ultimately keeping some of the bottles for herself.

She was present at the Starros family ancestral home on Hosnian Prime when Sana visited the family on one occasion following a bad breakup[1] between 3 ABY and 4 ABY.[4] She was making dinner and discussing a situation with Aryssha. When Sana came into the room, she told Aryssha to take Sana to their dining room. On the way to the room, Aryssha noted to their cousin that she would like the new tapestry in the dining room, adding that it was some of Mevera's best work. She was captured when Cerasus Ehllo and his troops attacked the Starros family homestead. After Ehllo ordered Aryssha to return to his ship King's Ransom, he confronted Mevera and told her that Aryssha belonged to him. When Sana ambushed the stormtroopers who were left behind to kill everyone and burn the estate to the ground, Mevera instructed Thea Starros to shoot at the tapestry hanging in the dinner room. It ignited, killing the Imperials and allowed the Starroses to escape. They stopped by the armory to get weapons and then proceeded to the Vector Bundle. Mevera was questioned by Sana on why she didn't seem to concerned that her daughter had been kidnapped by the Empire and asked why the aerial defenses hadn't worked. Mevera, at Thea's urging, told Sana that it was all part of a plan to retrieve a family heirloom from the Empire.[1]

As they travelled through the Hosnian sector, their ship was attacked by the bounty hunter Marl Jibs. Mevera manned an ion cannon and disabled his ship. She stowed the cannon and met her family in the galley. She asked about Jibs' claim of meeting Sana on Hon-Tallos. Her niece questioned her dealings with the Soikans. Thea told them to stop bickering and get some rest. Despite this, Mevera and Sana sat down to talk and Mevera brought out a bottle of Sacha-Lo. Sana asked her how she could let her daughter marry an Imperial officer. The two shared a drink. Mevera told Sana she shouldn't be angry that the Starros family had helped out her brother Phel Starros and that she loved him unconditionally. Later, she was piloting the Vector Bundle when Thea woke up hung-over Sana. Sana asked how Mevera didn't appear the worse for wear after drinking the Sacha-Lo and she responded that it was due to her experience. She told Sana that Aryssha had reached out to them and was attempting to divert the King's Ransom. The Starroses then went to Deva's asteroid to visit Deva Lompop. When Thea was greeted as Starfall, Mevera explained it was a nickname she had received while working as a sniper with Enfys Nest.[2]

The group had a meeting and Thea revealed that Phel had stolen Avon's journals during a visit. When asked why Phel was allowed into the homestead, Mevera said that she didn't think that Phel would steal from his own family. They travelled to Wild Wollina's Animal Adventures on Hon-Tallos to assist Lompop with a mission. Mevera tried to discuss the situation and Phel with Sana but she refused to listen. Once in the park, they met with Sana's associate Jand who flirted with Mevera. Once Lanitra and the Genetian Collective released a hragscythe to create a diversion, Mevera returned to the ship to prep it for take-off. After the successful completion of the mission, Mevera forwarded a message to Sana revealing that Jibs had captured Thea.[5]

Mevera and the rest of the group travelled to Hynestia Prime. During the trip, they discussed why Jibs was after Mevera and she revealed that Aryshha hadn't checked in which worried her. Lompop was able to use her contacts and discovered that the Soikans hadn't posted a bounty on Mevera which led her to discern that Jibs was setting a trap for them. Mevera and Sana argued about how to approach the meeting with Jibs until Lompop silenced them both and detailed her plan. After landing on Hynestia, Mevera left to go shopping for equipment to use in the rescue. She met up with Lompop and Sana outside an old Jedi temple that had been turned into a cantina. She was shot in the back by a cold weather assault trooper when Jibs revealed that he was a distraction so that the Starrores could be ambushed. She was carried out of the bar by a Besalisk and put on a ship that took her to the King's Ransom. She and Thea were taken to Aryssha's quarters and discovered she was going into labor.[6]

Mevera aided her daughter in giving birth while Sana and her associates attacked the King's Ransom. After the ship was successfully taken from the Imperials, she happily joined her family in welcoming her new granddaughters, Desana and Thevera. Sana mentioned that Lompop had wanted to devour Ehllo and Mevera suggested that she should have instead of ejecting him in an escape pod.[7]

  4. The events of Star Wars: Sana Starros take place between those of issue 31 and issue 38 of the 2020 Star Wars: Doctor Aphra comic-book series. Issue 31 is also set after Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters crossover event, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 3 ABY, while issue 38 is a part of the Star Wars: Dark Droids crossover event, which is followed by the events of issue 43 of the 2020 Star Wars series. Furthermore, the flashbacks of issue 50 of the Star Wars series—which follow the events of issue 43—take place approximately twenty-two years after Sheev Palpatine's ascension to the title of Galactic Emperor. Since Timelines dates that event to 19 BBY, the flashbacks must occur around 3 ABY and the events of Sana Starros must therefore also take place around the latter year.
