Marl Jibs was a human who worked for the Galactic Empire[2] during the Imperial Era. At some point, he was present with his Twi'lek girlfriend at a bar on Hon-Tallos when his girlfriend left with an individual who claimed to be Sana Starros, though in reality was Chelli Lona Aphra. A few years later,[1] sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY,[3] Jibs worked with the Imperial officer Phel Starros to capture his aunt Mevera Starros for working with the Soikans. Jibs piloted a ship and caught up with Mevera in the Hosnian sector, though she was with her niece Sana Starros and Thea Starros, who were attempting to rescue Mevera's daughter Aryssha. Jibs demanded that they turn over Mevera or face the consequences. When Sana tried to stall Jibs for time, he informed Sana of their supposed meeting before, though Sana informed Jibs she had never been to Hon-Tallos before and it wasn't her that had left with his girlfriend. After Sana had bought her relatives enough time, they revealed a new weapon installed on their ship, the Vector Bundle, which they planned to use on Jibs and his ship. Jibs attacked but his ship was disabled by an ion cannon that Mevera took from the Soikans after they didn't pay her for some freelance work. He was left adrift as the Vector Bundle left for the Dalnan sector.[1]

Jibs was present during the Mission to Hon-Tallos where he confronted Sana, demanding the location of Mevera. Sana fled on Nussi and he chased her on a speeder bike. Sana attacked him with her rancor mount, causing Jibs to crash into a wall. Later, Mevera received a holomessage from him stating that he had kidnapped Thea and she had 48 hours to surrender to him or he would kill Thea.[4]

Lompop checked with her Soikan sources and confirmed they hadn't hired Jibs. The group traveled to Hynestia to meet with him. Jibs held Thea at blasterpoint. Sana informed him that they knew he wasn't a bounty hunter. He revealed he was just a distraction so that the Imperials could attack and capture all the Starros. He took Thea back to a ship and transported her to the King's Ransom.[2]

  3. The events of Star Wars: Sana Starros take place between those of issue 31 and issue 38 of the 2020 Star Wars: Doctor Aphra comic-book series. Issue 31 is also set after Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters crossover event, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 3 ABY, while issue 38 is a part of the Star Wars: Dark Droids crossover event, which is followed by the events of issue 43 of the 2020 Star Wars series. Furthermore, the flashbacks of issue 50 of the Star Wars series—which follow the events of issue 43—take place approximately twenty-two years after Sheev Palpatine's ascension to the title of Galactic Emperor. Since Timelines dates that event to 19 BBY, the flashbacks must occur around 3 ABY and the events of Sana Starros must therefore also take place around the latter year.
