Avon's journals were a series of journals[2] written by the scientist Avon Starros that contained her research on crystal theory.[1] At some point after she was captured by the Nihil,[3] Avon began to realize that there were individuals who would use her and her research for terrible things and became reluctant to share her discoveries. In response, she locked the journals away in a data cube with a message of how to use it if it was found. Avon eventually went missing and her research untouched. When she was young, Thea Starros, a descendant of Avon, discovered the cube and unlocked it, discovering what Avon had left. The data cube was then kept safe for a long time,[1] until they were taken by the Imperial Phel Starros, a member of the Starros Clan, when he visited the Starros family homestead at one point.[2] At some point between 3 ABY and 4 ABY,[4] Thea, Aryssha, and Mevera Starros planned to steal the journals back from the Empire. After Aryssha was taken by the Empire by her husband, the Imperial officer Captain Cerasus Ehllo, Sana Starros was informed of the plan by Mevera as they escaped their ancestral home.[5]
After they captured Ehllo's ship, the King's Ransom, and retrieved the data cube, Sana viewed the journals. Following this, she destroyed the data cube, to the dismay of Deva Lompop.[6]

Issue 31 is also set after Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters crossover event, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 3 ABY, while issue 38 is a part of the Star Wars: Dark Droids crossover event, which is followed by the events of issue 43 of the 2020 Star Wars series. Furthermore, the flashbacks of issue 50 of the Star Wars series—which follow the events of issue 43—take place approximately twenty-two years after Sheev Palpatine's ascension to the title of Galactic Emperor. Since Timelines dates that event to 19 BBY, the flashbacks must occur around 3 ABY and the events of Sana Starros must therefore also take place around the latter year.
