The Merson system was a star system in the Inner Rim Territories[1] and the Slice[2] that fell within grid square O-10 of the Standard Galactic Grid. A hyperspace route connected it to the Zeltros system[3] and the Ambria system.[4] The Merson system shared its name[3] with the Merson pirates.[5]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, the Merson system was mentioned as just "Merson" on a map of the galaxy[3] written by Jason Fry[6] in the reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations, New Edition,[3] which was released on March 6, 2025.[7] It was then identified as the Merson system in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both were also written by Fry.[8]
The system originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in flashbacks in the sixty-fourth issue of the Star Wars: Republic comic book series, which was written by John Ostrander, illustrated by Brandon Badeaux, and published by Dark Horse Comics[9] on April 28, 2004.[10] It was then identified as the Merson system in The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book written by Fry and Daniel Wallace.[11]
