The Magaveene system was a star system located in the Prefsbelt sector of the Outer Rim[1] and New Territories.[2] It was situated in grid square K-6 of the Standard Galactic Grid[1] and contained the astronomical object Magaveene.[3]
In 231 BBY,[4] the Jedi Order[5] and Galactic Republic's Republic Defense Coalition engaged Nihil pirates on Magaveene[3] during Operation: Counterstrike—the Jedi and Republic's response to the Nihil's attack on the Republic Fair held on[5] the Outer Rim planet[6] Valo—led by[5] the human[3] Jedi marshal Avar Kriss.[5]
At one point during the battle, a drift of Jedi Vector starfighters commanded by the Frozian[5] Jedi Knight[3] Nooranbakarakana were dispatched to the Magaveene system from the Republic space station Starlight Beacon[5] in the Outer Rim's Eiram system[6] to assist Kriss.[5] The engagement ended in a victory for the Republic and Jedi forces.[3]
Behind the scenes
The Magaveene system was first mentioned in the first part of "Starlight: Past Mistakes,"[5] the fourth installment of the The High Republic: Starlight series of short stories released as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I. The story was written by Cavan Scott and published in the Star Wars Insider magazine series' 205th issue[7] on September 21, 2021.[8]
