The Khepi Tomb also known as the Great Tomb was a necropolis built into an asteroid hidden in the Sayma Nebula located in Wild Space. It was later used as a pirate base by the Rokana Raiders while their leader, Stinger Tash, searched for a way to open the tombs burial chamber and access rumored Khepi treasure.
Description
- "It is difficult to grasp the scope of the Great Tomb since we have yet to find any concrete records of its construction."
- ―Lor San Takk in the holobook, History of the Khepi
Khepi Tomb was built into an asteroid floating in the Sayma Nebula in Wild Space using roxodium alloys. The tomb consisted of various chambers built into the rock of the asteroid. A number of Khepi guardian droids were built with the same roxodium alloys and were place through out the to tomb to protect the Tomb. The main burial chamber was sealed behind a set of roxodium doors. The tomb including a power generator that aspects of the surrounding nebula and was able to turn that into energy.[1]
While the tomb was being used as a pirate base by the Rokana Raiders[1] in 3 ABY,[2] chambers in the tomb had specific purposes to support the raiders. These included using one as a brig and another was used as a tavern where the pirates could relax with drink between raids. Another room was dedicated to a forge where the raiders could melt down and repurpose various equipment they acquired.[1]
History
Construction and mystery
During the High Republic Era, the Khepi calculated that an asteroid would impact and destroy their planet ten years later. Rather than evacuate their planet, the Khepi accepted their demise and began the construction of the Great Tomb. During the tomb's construction the Khepi used an artifact known as the Architect's Scepter to assist in its destruction.[1]
Due to the secrecy of Khepi various holobooks were written about the Khepi people and their tomb. These included The Final Rest by Lento Ye-Gimu published in 59 BBY, The Secrets of the Khepi by Suna Charoo published in 45 BBY, The Lost Tomb by Rhyssa Graf published in 32 BBY, the History of the Khepi by Lor San Tekka published in 20 BBY and the Khepi Chronicles by Molo Jopeem published in 14 BBY.[1]
Rediscovery

By 3 ABY,[2] Doctor Jessik from the Imperial Archaeological Division of the Galactic Empire discovered the coordinates of the tomb. While on Hauler's Keep, they shared the coordinates of the tomb with Stinger Tash who they believed was a simply starship captain who could provide them with safe transport to the tomb. In reality, Tash was the leader of a pirate group called the Rokana Raiders and used the coordinates to establish a pirate base in the tomb while she sought to open the tomb's burial chamber and access the rumored treasure of the Khepi.[1]
In 3 ABY,[2] the pirate captain Hondo Ohnaka overheard the members of the Rokana Raiders discussing the Khepi treasure, which he had been searching for, for cycles. He offered his services to the raiders who proceeded to seize him and transport him tomb where they locked him in the brig. Ohnaka however used the communication devices he had hidden on his person to try to contact an ally of his to come and rescue him. One such ally was Jet Kordo, an Ugnaught smuggler who parted with Ohnaka on less than friendly circumstances. Unbeknownst to Ohnaka the commucation to Kordo was sent to his former EML-850 light freighter, the Trailblazer which was now under control of Kay Vess and her compainion ND-5. Following Ohnaka's directions, Vess and ND-5 were able to track down the coordinates of the tomb from a starmap owned by another pirate named Qorvino. When they emmerged from hyperspace they suffered ionic effects from the Sayma Nebula and were captured by the Rokana Raiders and Vess was taken to a cell next to Ohnaka.[1]
