Kevmo Zink was a Pantoran male who became the Padawan of Jedi Master Zallah Macri[1] around 384 BBY[3] during the High Republic Era. After a Force artifact was stolen from Hynestia, the two followed a trail to Dalna while investigating. During the investigation, Zink met the Evereni female Marda Ro, a member of the Path of the Open Hand.[1] The two developed a budding romance, despite the conflicting beliefs of the Jedi and the Path. Zink died after coming into contact with The Leveler, slowly turning to stone as Ro held him. After his death, Ro kept and used Kevmo's lightsaber, and experienced hallucinations of Zink for a time.[4]

Personality and traits

Zink was gregarious, unable to stand still, overly tactile, and accidentally flirted with almost every life-form he met.[1]

He felt the Force as warmth and light akin to a blazing sun, and his connection to it was strong but uneven.[1]

As a Pantoran, Zink had blue skin, with gold clan tattoos on his face. He had black hair that he wore in elaborate braids, with a shorter Padawan braid.[1]

Behind the scenes

Kevmo Zink first appeared in the 2022 young-adult novel The High Republic: Path of Deceit, written by Justina Ireland and Tessa Gratton as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase II.[5] Zink was originally envisioned as a Kiffar, but after the creation of Kiffar Jedi Master Vildar Mac by Cavan Scott for the Marvel comic series Star Wars: The High Republic, Ireland and Gratton revised their drafts of Path of Deceit to recast Zink as a Pantoran, though they retained his tattoos as Gratton really enjoyed the interactions Zink had with Marda Ro.[6] Ireland considered Zink to be a "pretty fun and endearing" Jedi. When asked if there was a character from Phases I or II that had died and she could bring back if she could, Ireland answered it was Zink, while also noting she had been the one to kill him in the first place.[7]
