"Armor like that, I take it you're CCs, like me."
―Gregor, to Clone Force 99[6]

Katarn-class commando armor, or simply Katarn-class armor,[3] was a type of heavy and highly sophisticated clone trooper armor utilized by clone commandos of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, and, later, during the Imperial Era.[2]

Katarn-class armor sets were given to clone commandos and equipped with backpacks that contained grenades and sabotage gear. Additionally, commandos were allowed to choose the colors of their suits.[7] The armor shared its name with the Katarn species, which was native to the world of Kashyyyk.[8]

The armor was durable and had blast-resistant properties; for instance, clone commando Gregor was able to survive two point-blank shots to his chest-plate during his escape from the Imperial Base on Daro.[6]

One variant of the Katarn-class armor was the Mk I Katarn-class Commando Armor.[2]

Many clone commandos wore blank white armor during the Imperial Era

Katarn-class commando armor was used by clone commandos throughout the Clone Wars[9] and into the Imperial Era.[6] The members of Clone Force 99 wore modified Katarn-class armor.[5]

During the Imperial Era,[6] much like how most standard clone troopers were required to return their armor to a blank white state,[10] many clone commandos returned their armor to its default white appearance.[6] However, there were some exceptions to this; Clone Commander Scorch was allowed to retain his colors, and the commandos of the Imperial royal guard had their armor decorated with grey markings.[11]
