The Special Operations Brigade,[4] also known as the GAR special forces,[1] was a brigade[4] within the Grand Army of the Republic. The GAR special forces units, along with Jedi, commonly used the Nu-class attack/transport shuttle thanks to its utility and versatility during the Clone Wars.[1] Some Advanced Recon Commando troopers and clone commandos were part of the brigade.[3] While most of the Republic Military was composed of clone troopers,[5] of which ARC troopers and clone commandos were elite variants,[6] some non-clone personnel would fight for the Republic Military during the war, including in special operation roles. Republic Intelligence made use of non-clone direct action operatives, whose number included personnel sourced from the Judicial Forces.[5]
