In approximately 3900 BBY,[2] a brutal civil war was fought on the Core Worlds planet Grizmallt. A group of colony ships containing human Grizmallti refugees fled the planet and arrived near Nabu, a world the Grizmallti had discovered and named around a century earlier.[1] One of the colony ships crashed on Nabu,[3] while the others landed and the Grizmallti began colonizing the world. They clashed with the indigenous Gungan species, after which the Grizmallti formed the prosperous Naboo culture.[1]
Behind the scenes
The civil war between the Grizmallti was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in Nexus of Power, a 2016 roleplaying game sourcebook for Star Wars: Force and Destiny.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, a revolution that caused Humans to flee their homeworld to Naboo and establish the capital city Theed 800 years before the Battle of Naboo, was first mentioned in the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I by Kristin Lund.[4] The 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds identified Grizmallt as the planet of origin of Naboo's human colonists, but did not mention the revolution and placed the colonization in 3900 BBY.[5] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace then stated that Theed became the capital in the aftermath of the Time of Suffering, a civil war on Naboo.[6] Nexus of Power established that the civil war took place on Grizmallt within both Legends and canon.[1]
