Around 3900 BBY,[2] a brutal civil war occurred on the Core Worlds planet Grizmallt. In the midst of the war,[1] Grizmallt's Queen, Elsinoré den Tasia, sponsored an expedition[3] of Human Grizmallti refugees aboard[1] three colony ships,[4] Beneficent Tasia, Constant, and Mother Vima, to leave Grizmallt[3] in search of fortune and glory. Led by the explorer Kwilaan,[5] the ships eventually reached the planet Naboo, on which the refugees made colonies and fought a war with the native Gungans.[1]
Behind the scenes
The 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I by Kristin Lund mentioned that Naboo's capital city of Theed had been established by settlers fleeing a revolution on their homeworld 800 years prior to the Battle of Naboo.[6] However, other sources such as the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds[3] and the 2004 reference book The New Essential Chronology established that Naboo was colonized by Humans from Grizmallt around 3900 BBY.[7] Additionally, 2009's The Essential Atlas by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace stated that Theed became the capital in the aftermath of the Time of Suffering, a civil war on Naboo.[4] The 2016 sourcebook Nexus of Power, published by Fantasy Flight Games for the Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game, established that the colonists of Naboo were fleeing a civil war on Grizmallt.[1]
