Colonist

A colonist, also known as a settler, was an individual who migrated as part of a group that sought to exercise power over their area of colonization. Early colonists of the planet Tatooine were drawn by the promise of mining the desert planet's mineral wealth and were forced to adapt to its harsh environment, using moisture vaporators to gather as much water as possible from the world's parched atmosphere. Human colonists on the planet they named Naboo competed with the native Gungans, threatening the sentients' symbiotic relationship with the natural environment and setting up a separate Naboo culture based in the capital city Theed.^[1]

Colonists sometimes traveled to planets they colonized aboard colony ships.^[1]
