"Insert credit."
―Comlink monitor[2]

Gavalox Communications was a subspace comm center[3] on Rix Road[1] on the planet Ferrix, that offered public comlink stations where people could insert credits to use comlink booths.[2] The comm center offered "multi-network access" and "pay as you go" services that were available 24/7.[3] The sign on comm center stated the business' name in Aurebesh at the top and Bazeese script at the bottom.[2][5] The business name was also written in Bazeese on a street lamp, two lines of the same words wrapping around it, but with different color hues.[6]

The comm center was located close to Ferrix Depot, Hotel Rix, and a store selling chairs.[1]

In 5 BBY,[7] Timm Karlo went there to make an anonymous tip call about Cassian Andor, who was wanted by the Pre-Mor Security Inspection team for questioning. Each booth contained a large comlink with various buttons and green monitor saying "INSERT CREDIT" in Aurebesh, with the credit symbol underneath. After Karlo pressed a series of buttons, the message "COM LINK D[obscured]T" appeared.[2]

Behind the scenes

"The business that Timm Karlo uses to tip off the Pre-Mor authorities about Cassian's presence is Gavalox Communications, a subspace comm center that promises "multi-network access" and "pay as you go" service that never closes."

Gavalox Communications was created for the television series Star Wars: Andor. Barry Gingell, who worked as a graphic designer on the series,[7] confirmed on Twitter that the script that runs underneath the Aurebesh name on the sign was a new alphabet created for the series, but he was not in a position to reveals its name.[8] The name of the script was eventually revealed to be Bazeese script, in the episode guide for the episode "Rix Road."[9]

  4. Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide states that Cassian Jeron Andor was arrested for confronting Imperials in 19 BBY. As seen in "Announcement," that attack was preceded by the Rix Road protest of the Imperial Era: as the Galactic Empire is formed in 19 BBY according to Dawn of Rebellion, the protest occurs in 19 BBY by virtue of occurring after the formation of the Empire but before Andor's arrest.
